Royal Rumble
Feb 1, 1986 (aired live on PPV)
Baltimore Arena, Baltimore, MD

John Elliott and Robbie Atkinson welcome us to the first ever Royal Rumble event. They run down the card and discuss favorites to win the Rumble. Elliott thinks Rick Samson might be too strong for anyone to throw him out. Atkinson suggests Bulk Logan will cheat his way to victory.

Cage Match:
The Jolly Green Giant pinned Stan Trump with the Giant Bomb in 0:05:04.
Rating: DUD

Million Dollar Stan tried to bribe Jolly to let him go and got laughed off. This was exactly the one-sided beating you might expect: Trump getting thrown around all around the ring and into the cage, getting the stuffing beat out of him.

Match for the vacant WCWF Tag Team Titles:
The Awesome McKnight Brothers (Bruce McKnight and Ralph McKnight) defeated
The American Express (Brett Hale and Cpl. Punishment) when Bullet Bruce pinned Punishment after a flying kneedrop in 0:06:13.
Rating: 3/4*
(The Awesome McKnight Brothers won the WCWF Tag Team Titles.)

The tag tag titles tournament ended a bit anti-climatically. Hale and Punishment were clearly not on the same page, with Hale walking out on his partner during the match. Punishment put up a good fight, but there was no way he could win this by himself, even with his experience.

I-Quit Match:
Mean Massimo made Jimmy Blast submit to a hammerlock in 0:20:47.
Rating: ***

A vicious brawl. During a brawl on the outside, Massimo repeatedly slammed Blast's army into the ringpost. He got the victory later in the match after unhooking one of the turnbuckles and hitting Blast in the shoulder with it. Massimo pinned Blast face-down on the map and applied a hammerlock to the injured arm. With no escape, Blast had to submit.

Bruiser Barton pinned Bonesaw McGraw with the Calf Branding in 0:14:56.
Rating: ** 3/4
(Bruiser Barton won the WCWF United States Title.)

Randy Robinson pinned Chris Reese with the Ram Jam in 0:10:28.
Rating: ** 1/4
(Randy Robinson retained the WCWF World Heavyweight Title.)

Some impressive performances here as Bulk Logan returns from losing the World Title at Starrcade and nearly earns a rematch with an unlike iron man performance. Wally Richter was an absolute monster, personally eliminating seven participants. Rocky Hendrix returned to action for the first time since tearing his ACL back in May, although his time in the Rumble didn't amount to much. "Irregardless" Russ Romero came in at #30, which he made a big deal about. Ultimately it was veteran Johnny "Bloody" Valentine who got a lucky late entry at #29 and used his cunning to clean house at the end. He will be a serious challenge for Randy Robinson at Wrestlemania!
