The Slam Masters Wrestling Association presents...
Fireworks explode as we open yet another Slam
Masters event. The thousands of fans in Salt Lake City's Delta Center
explode in a frenzy of cheers. It's the kind of reaction we've come
to expect from an SMWA crowd.
It's good to know that there are still some things
you can count on.
Tonight, we will see six big matches. The
Air Raiders will face off against Steelworks for a shot at the SMWA World
Tag Team Champions, Highland Hell. All four men will be wrestling
hurt, but the doctors have okayed all of them to compete tonight.
Johnny Proton says that he will offer his hand
in friendship to Kodiak Marmoset at the end of their match, regardless
of the outcome. Will Kodiak accept the offer? Or is he more
likely to tear Proton's arm off?
Shadow Maxx is eager to make amends with King
Rasta. But what kind of amends can be made in a Texas Death Match?
Terry Sky's Highland Hit Squad looks to put Daredevil
Productions out of business very quickly tonight in a six man tag match.
Does Ron Grayson have anything up his sleeve? More importantly, does
he have a team?
Jack Slade, Jerry Kent, Skarzz and Doomsday will
face off in the titanic BattleCrash match, with the winner getting a World
Title Shot at New Year's Smash.
And Mike Haggar, who had the World Title taken
from him in a shocking upset weeks ago on Monday Night Massacre, looks
to reclaim the belt from the man who took it from him, Ghost.
It's going to be one hell of a night.
After the fireworks cleared, we went backstage to talk to Nick Jones.
JONES: Fans, Mike Haggar has just made it into the Delta Center. I tried to get a word with him, but he went right past me and into this dressing room. I can't remember the last time I've seen Mike Haggar this intense, this ready for a match-up. I wouldn't want to be Ghost tonight. Mike Haggar is good to go and AH!!!
Skarzz knocked over Jones, stormed past the cameraman and kicked in the door to Haggar's dressing room. Major Force ran into the dressing room and took it to Haggar. The cameraman tried to see what was happening, but Skarzz grabbed the camera and threw it across the hallway, ending our signal.
Mike Haggar had been attacked by Major Force!!!
Our camera was down!!! We had no idea what was going on, but it couldn't
be good for Haggar.
As the crew desperately tried to get somebody
backstage to find out what was happening, introductions were already underway
for our first match!
Tag Team Title Top Contenders
Match
Steelworks
vs
The Air Raiders
The show must go on, in spite of what has happened to Mike Haggar. An update will be made as soon as information is available.
Ever since they first teamed up, Ultimate Spider
and El Stingray have been one of the most exciting tag teams in recent
memory. The last high-flying tag team as impressive as The Air Raiders
was SuperStars Inc, where Stingray teamed with Terry Sky. They went
on to win two SMWA World Tag Team Championships. The Air Raiders
had a chance to win a shot at those belts.
Standing in there way, Steelworks. Andrew
Marshall and Rod Emerson are a couple of big, powerful wrestlers who can
work you into the ground in a matter of minutes. They lost to Highland
Hell at Thanksgiving Thunder but remain a devastating team.
Tonight, these two teams, both former members
of The Raiders, would face off for a shot at the World Tag Team Champions.
Steelworks came to the ring first. Both
teams were crowd favourites and it showed by the reaction. Emerson
was still taped up from his fall down a flight of stairs during the now-infamous
Rolling Thunder match and he still sported a light cast on his forearm.
Neither of these men were one hundred per cent, but they could take solace
that the Air Raiders were injured, too.
The Raiders came out next. Ultimate Spider
sustained a mild neck injury against Rokuru in the Rolling Thunder match,
but he wasn't wearing any kind of brace. Hopefully, he'd be able
to go.
The big question mark was El Stingray.
Stingray had a bandage wrapped around his right triceps. During a
brawl with Steelworks on Monday, Stingray took a bad fall and tore some
muscles in his arm. Still, he was clear to wrestle.
The Air Raiders were the big underdogs here.
They were both injured and were facing a bigger, stronger team who worked
very well together. There chances were slim.
As the Air Raiders entered the ring, Steelworks
tried to level them with matching lariats. Stingray and Spider ducked
and sent Marshall and Emerson from the ring with a couple of dropkicks.
Already, though, Stingray was favouring his arm. It looked like Spider
would have to take the bulk of the match.
Much to everyone's surprise, however, Stingray
started the match against "Iron" Rod Emerson. A few tie ups proved
very quickly that Stingray was not going to be able to wrestle against
Emerson. Too much power, too much skill. Stingray goaded Emerson
in to another tie up and dropped him with a drop toe hold. Stingray
then knocked Emerson down with a legsweep. A quick tag was made to
Spider. The Air Raiders were doing their thing.
The next few minutes was filled with some spectacular
double teaming. Spider came off the top rope with a missile dropkick
and, as he connected, Stingray kicked Emerson in the back of the head with
a lightning quick enzuigiri. Emerson then got up to be floored by
El Stingray's trademark Jalapeno Comet tackle. As Emerson hit the
ground, Spider was flying through the air with a legdrop from the top.
The Air Raiders were looking crisp.
Emerson tried to regain the advantage, attempting
a back suplex. Spider backflipped out of the move and then performed
another backflip for show before he caught Emerson with a spinning leg
lariat under the jaw. Emerson staggered back to his corner and tagged
Marshall who, smartly, slowed the pace down.
Marshall and Spider exchanged several holds down
on the mat. It had become a wrestling match and was fairly even.
Finally, though, Marshall got behind Spider and, with no hesitation, tossed
him over his head with a release German suplex. Spider hit the mat
with a thud and immediately grabbed his neck. Marshall didn't let
up. He picked Spider up and floored him with an Exploder suplex.
Spider then found himself eight feet in the air as Marshall military pressed
him several times over his head before he dropped him onto the mat.
The tag was made to Emerson and, for the next few moments, Spider found
himself at the mercy of Steelworks. Finally, he managed to roll under
an Emerson lariat and make a tag to Stingray.
Never one to disappoint, Stingray entered the
ring with a no-hands springboard dropkick. Emerson found himself
a victim of his speed opponents. He managed to reverse an irish whip,
but Spider moved out of the corner as Emerson charged in. In a great
move, Spider hooked Emerson up for a spinning DDT and dropped him.
He went for a cover and got a two count.
Spider tossed Emerson to the other corner and
hooked Emerson for the same move once more. This time, Emerson was
ready. He held Spider in the air, planted him on his feet and dropped
him with a big lariat. Marshall was tagged in and Spider found himself
on the receiving end of a vertical suplex. Marshall went for a back
suplex, but Spider managed to flip out. To no avail, as Marshall
hit him with a reverse clothesline and nearly got the win.
Spider was in tough. He tried to hit a
few aerial moves, but none of them had any tangible effect on Marshall.
Jackhammer was dominating the match. After several suplexes, it looked
like Spider would be done. Marshall had other ideas. He Irish
whipped Spider to the ropes and went for a reverse clothesline. Spider
ducked and, as he bounced off the ropes, he tagged to Stingray. Spider
jumped onto Marshall and floored him with a leaping DDT. Stingray
was up top and he delivered a beautiful flying legdrop. For a few
more minutes, The Air Raiders maintained control with their double teaming.
But Marshall wasn't done.
El Stingray tried to hit an Asai moonsault, but
Marshall was ready. He caught Stingray and quickly planted him with
the De-Facer. The ref went down for the pin.

SPIDER WITH A FLYING
HEADBUTT TO BREAK THE PIN!!! Marshall got right in Spider's face.
Spider argued with Marshall, allowing Stingray to regain his composure.
As Marshall turned around, he found himself being rolled up.

2...
NO!!! KICKOUT!!! Marshall quickly floored
Stingray with another release German suplex. Looking to end the match,
Marshall locked on a full nelson.
Stingray screamed in pain. His arm was
in bad shape, and having a two hundred and fifty pound wrestler pulling
it back wouldn't help at all. Stingray was blacking out. Spider,
knowing this, got into the ring and broke the hold.
Marshall again went after Spider. Stingray
quickly dazed Marshall with an enzuigiri. Stingray then went up top,
but Marshall stopped him, causing him to fall onto the top turnbuckle.
Marshall picked his smaller opponent up off the turnbuckle and flew off
with a flying powerslam. Another cover.

2...
3NO!!!! SHOULDER
UP!!! AMAZING!!!
Stingray kept taking it and taking it.
Both Emerson and Marshall took turns knocking him down, but Stingray kept
getting up! Finally, he got a break. Marshall went for a very
uncharacteristic top rope move and missed. Stingray rolled to his
corner.
Spider tagged in.
Emerson charged the ring but was taken down with
a dropkick to the knee. Spider then sprung off the middle ropes and
took Marshall down with a DDT. Stingray received the tag back in.
Emerson regained his composure and knocked Stingray back outside.
Steelworks whipped Spider to the ropes and went for a double backdrop.
Spider hit Emerson with a DDT.
Stingray was climbing back into the ring.
Marshall went for a lariat, but Spider ducked.
Stingray was on the top rope.
Spider took Marshall down with a back suplex.
Stingray came off the top with the SuperStar
Press.

The Air Raiders defeated Steelworks when Stingray
pinned Marshall with the Superstar Press in 0:14:14.
Rating: ***
The Air Raiders had done it! They had proved
that they could play with the big boys!
Emerson and Marshall were stunned but, in a true
show of sportsmanship, shook hands with their former teammates. Today
wasn't the day for Steelworks, but they may have many more in their future.
John Lee informed us that we had gotten a camera
backstage in the dressing room area. We were going back to find out
what happened to Mike Haggar.
The door to Haggar's dressing room had been broken
down by Skarzz. The cameraman walked in. The dressing room
had been trashed. The mirror on the wall was shattered, clothes were
scattered everywhere. Mike Haggar was lying on the ground, unconscious.
There was some blood on the ground near his head. Doctors were already
checking him out. We overheard one doctor. "They were in here
for over ten minutes. This doesn't look good." More doctors
came into the room to check on Haggar. One doctor ordered the cameraman
from the room.
Mike Haggar had been thoroughly brutalized by Major Force. Obviously, they don't want Ghost defending his World Title tonight. It looks like they might just have their wish.
We then went to Nick Jones, who was with Extinct
and Doomsday.
Jones was sporting a black eye.
JONES: Fans, you saw the carnage that Major Force laid upon Mike Haggar. I was there as it happened and, let me tell you, it did not look good. As soon as we have any news on Haggar's condition, we'll let yo u know. However, the show must go on, and part of that show is BattleCrash. Four men in a battle royal environment where you can be eliminated either by being thrown over the top rope or by being pinned anywhere in the building. With me now is Doomsday, one of the four men in the match. Doomsday, you know a couple of the combatants in that ring very well. You and Jack Slade share a past, while you and Skarzz have been at...
EXTINCT: Jones, shut up. If you're going to talk to anybody here, it will be to me. Tonight, this fellow has a chance to earn a World Title shot, and who's going to stop him? Jerry Kent? Too old. Jack Slade? Doomsday's crushed him before, he'll do it again. Skarzz? Nothing but a cheap imitation of the original. Doomsday's going to roll over all of them.
JONES: Well, assuming Doomsday does, consider who he'll have to face. Either Ghost or Mike Haggar, the only two men who have ever pinned Doomsday. What then?
EXTINCT: Haggar and Ghost...
DOOMSDAY: HAGGAR! GHOST! YOUR DAY OF JUDGEMENT IS AT HAND! YOU WILL NOT BE READY!
Extinct gave Doomsday a look. He didn't appreciate being cut off.
JONES: Back to the action.
Texas Death Match
King Rasta
vs
Shadow Maxx
They once were friends. But the schemes
and machinations of Saul Masters tore them apart. While Maxx was
a member of The Sins, Saul Masters gave him a choice - Maxx could discipline
Rasta's captured monkey...or Skarzz could do it. Maxx made the only
choice he could at the time. He had to torture Bobby to keep the
Sins from destroying him.
As a result, Rasta's best friend suffered severe
emotional trauma. Rasta, not concerned with Maxx's reasons, wanted
revenge. Bobby had to be vindicated.
Our ring announcers gave us an overview of the
rules.
RA: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is a TEXAS DEATH MATCH!!! The rules are as follows. No countouts. No disqualifications. Pinfalls count anywhere. After a fall, the referee will administer a ten count. If the wrestler cannot get to his feet by the count of ten, he will lose the match.
Maxx made his way to the ring first. He
received a lukewarm reception. Many fans understand what Maxx had
to do and realize that he is trying to make amends with Rasta. But
Rasta and Bobby have a lot of die hard fans. They weren't going to
give Maxx any benefit.
One fan was holding up a sign. "Animals
have rights, too....MAXX!" Maxx saw the sign and looked disgusted.
You can be sure that he didn't enjoy what he had to do. If only some
fans would realize that.
We went to a split screen view. A stretcher was being brought into Mike Haggar's dressing room by a team of paramedics. Slowly, carefully, a still unconscious Haggar was put on the stretcher.
King Rasta then came to the ring. Shockingly,
he didn't run. He walked. Slowly. With a purpose.
His eyes never left Shadow Maxx.
Rasta entered the ring. He didn't charge
Maxx. He simply stood across the ring with a look that could melt
steel. He was ready to go.
Maxx stood right across from Rasta. Then
he lay down on the mat. Rasta sneered. Maxx was willing to
throw this match to bury the hatchet.
Rasta was not. He ran up to Maxx and kicked
him right in the side of the head.
Thus, the brawl started.
Rasta took control. He backed Maxx into
the corner and unleashed a massive flurry of punches and kicks. Rasta
then started biting into Maxx's forehead. He didn't draw blood.
This time.
Maxx fought back with a barrage of rapid kicks.
He staggered Rasta with a big roundhouse kick and, from nowhere, took Rasta
down with a power bomb. Quickly, Maxx hit a standing moonsault and
went for a pin. He got a two count.
Rasta had his chance to forgive Maxx. He
lost it.
Maxx whipped Rasta to the ropes. Rasta
rebounded with a football tackle. He then began to feed Maxx with
lefts and rights. Rasta picked Maxx up and dropped him with a side
slam. A big atomic drop slam knocked the wind out of Maxx.
Rasta followed up with a big flying kneedrop. He went for the cover.
He got a two count. Rasta, looking to make things messy, tossed Maxx
outside.
Rasta jumped off of the apron with a big elbowdrop.
He then picked Maxx up and went for another German suplex. Maxx countered
with a go-behind and hit a German suplex of his own. Rasta grabbed
his head in pain. Maxx went back inside. As Rasta got up, Maxx
jumped onto the top rope and went outside with an amazing springboard dropkick!!!
Rasta was hit hart, but Maxx caught a lot of floor on the move. Both
men were down for several seconds.
Bobby the Monkey, watching from ringside, wanted
a piece of Maxx for himself. Bobby saw some electrical cord at ringside.
He grabbed it and ran over to Maxx. Bobby was fearful no longer.
He wanted to hurt Maxx. He wrapped the cord around Maxx's throat
and tried to choke him out.
Unfortunately, Bobby isn't a big monkey.
Maxx managed to stand up. He reached back and grabbed Bobby the by
the scruff of his neck. Bobby saw Maxx's face and started to scream
in terror. He had been in this position before.
Rasta saw Bobby in Maxx's clutches. He
grabbed the nearest thing available. The camera of a fan at ringside.
Maxx, not the man he was forced to be in the
Sins, walked Bobby over to a table and put him down gently. Bobby,
terrified, was curled up in a ball, shivering.
The next thing Maxx felt was a camera being broken
across the back of his head. Rasta found some more electrical cord
and began to choke Maxx down. Maxx was slowly losing oxygen.
As he passed into unconsciousness, Rasta let go.
Instead of making a cover, Rasta went to Bobby.
He wanted to make sure he was okay. Rasta consoled Bobby as best
he could.
Maxx was conscious. He was reaching into
his trench coat for something.
Bobby, still shaken, was doing better.
Rasta turned to face Maxx.
Maxx belted Rasta with a chain. Right in
the face. Rasta went down. Maxx made the pin.

Rasta went for another pin.

to the head. Maxx backed up and went for a high cross body.
Rasta caught him and powerslammed him to the floor. Rasta kept it
up, hitting Maxx with a reverse neckbreaker and a bulldog onto the floor.
Looking to finish things off, Rasta climbed back
into the ring. He climbed the top rope. He waited for Maxx
to get up and, when he did, Rasta gave the signal for the Dread Lock Drop.
He waited till Maxx was in position and the soared off of the top rope!!!

Maxx brought him into the ring with a suplex. He then picked Rasta
up and laid him across the table. Maxx climbed up top and went for

Too late. Rasta had climbed to the second rope and, before Maxx could
realize what was happening, nailed Maxx with a flying chair shot.
Maxx went down. Rasta laid the chair down beside Maxx and climbed
to the top. One more time, he gave the signal for the Dread Lock
Drop. A bloody Maxx slowly got to his feet. Rasta came off
the top rope and connected. The back of Maxx hit the steel chair

Rasta had done it. He had vindicated Bobby.
He quickly went outside to his friend. Bobby jumped into his arms,
happy this whole thing was over.
It was almost over.
Rasta went to the ring announcer and grabbed
the microphone. He had one last thing to say to Maxx.
RASTA: Ey, Maxx. You forgiven!
A show of sportsmanship...in a way.
We went backstage once more. Mike Haggar was being loaded into an ambulance. New SMWA reporter Katherine Woods was there to cover it.
WOODS: Fans, as you can see behind me, Mike Haggar is being taken to hospital. The paramedics refuse to comment on what exactly is wrong, only saying that Mike Haggar shouldn't be sustaining any permanent injuries from this attack. However, he has still not regained consciousness, putting the status of our main event in doubt. I will be at the hospital and promise that, as more information comes in, you will be informed.
The ambulance began to roll away in the background. Haggar was on his way to hospital. John Lee was getting some sort of chatter through his headset at the announce table.
LEE: I understand that Nick Jones is backstage with Saul Masters and Skarzz at this very moment. Let's see if we can get some answers about this attack.
JONES: John, I am here with Saul Masters and Skarzz. Masters, the attack on Mike Haggar...
MASTERS: Was a think of beauty, wasn't it?
JONES: You've put Mike Haggar in the hospital and that's all you can say?
MASTERS: Jones, you just don't understand the artistry of a good sneak attack. I just ensured that Mike Haggar will not be able to compete in the main event tonight. There will not be a glorious return from the hospital. This isn't going to have a happy ending. What I've done is give my man Ghost a night off.
JONES: Are you that scared of Mike Haggar?
MASTERS: That's a very nice black eye you have there, Jones. You're lucky that's all you got. Ghost fears no man. Why should any member of Major Force fear anybody? We are the most devastating stable ever put together in the history of wrestling. People fear us, Jones. Mike Haggar feared us. He should still fear us. Jack Slade, Jerry Kent and Doomsday should fear us. By the end of tonight, Ghost will still be the World Champion, Skarzz will have won BattleCrash and Major Force will reign supreme. And that will only be the beginning.
JONES: ...if that's only the beginning, what's next?
MASTERS: I can't give away all of our secrets, Jones.
JONES: Saul Masters and Skarzz. Back to you John.
LEE: Thanks, Nick, you held up well. Fans, over the past few months we have seen Kodiak Marmoset change from the honourable, dominating Cruiserweight Champion to an absolute lunatic. His obsession about Clone is the reason. Maybe, tonight, his only friend in the world can snap him out of it.
We showed clips over the past few weeks. Images of Clone beating Kodiak, Kodiak throwing tantrums in the ring and Proton trying to calm him. We saw the Thanksgiving Thunder win by Proton and Kodiak snapping later that night, injuring Clone. We saw the Massacre attack, where Commissioner McCullough had to pry Kodiak off of Johnny Proton. And we heard Johnny Proton say that, win or lose, he would offer his hand in friendship to Kodiak.
Nick Jones was backstage with Johnny Proton.
JONES: I'm here with the SMWA Cruiserweight Champion, Johnny Proton. Johnny, I know this has to be tough with you. Not only are you defending the Cruiserweight Title against a man who literally dominated the division over the summer, but a man who was once your friend. What are your thoughts on tonight's match.
PROTON: Well, Jones, as far as I'm concerned, Kody is still my friend. Like I said, I'm here for him if he ever needs a person to talk to. But, you know, I've got to do what I've got to do. I'm the Cruiserweight Champion and that's really important to me, too. So if Kodiak is going to challenge me, I hope we can have a nice friendly match and be friends afterwards. That's what I hope for, anyway. But I don't plan on losing my belt.
SMWA Cruiserweight Title Grudge
Match
Johnny Proton (C)
vs
Kodiak Marmoset
This match would be interesting. A lot of people seem to think Kodiak's rage will once again be his undoing. However, others are thinking Proton's kindness will be his. This may be the most emotional battle of the night.
Kodiak came out first to a chorus of boos.
Whatever fans he once have are now only a memory. Crowds don't like
a whiner. Kodiak has done nothing but whine over the past few weeks.
A chant started in the back of the arena.
We couldn't quite make it out first. Others picked up on it.
It grew in intensity. Soon, the chant was very clear.
Loser.
Kodiak was steaming in the ring. Proton
would have a tough task ahead of him.
Johnny came out next to quite the little pop.
Fans liked him. How could you hate such a nice guy? Here he
is, offering to be friends with a total lunatic. You have to respect
that. In a weird, twisted kind of way.
Proton climbed onto the apron and Kodiak immediately
took a swing at him. Proton ducked and got into the ring. Kodiak
was all over him.
Proton wasn't ready for the ferocity of Kodiak's
attack. Kodiak tried to choke Proton out in the opening minutes and
then started breaking out the heavy moves. A big lariat nearly turned
Proton inside out. A spinebuster smashed Proton into the mat and
a splash put him down for an early two count.
If Proton was there to help his friend, Kodiak
sure wasn't appreciative.
Kodiak went for an armdrag. Proton managed
to counter, locking on an abdominal stretch.
PROTON: Calm down, Kody.
KODIAK: Screw you, @$$hole!
Kodiak took Proton over with a hiptoss.
Proton quickly got to his feet and put Kodiak in a front facelock.
He was looking to tie Kodiak up. He didn't want this to turn into
a fight.
Proton tried to mat wrestle with Kodiak.
It was like trying to wrestle down a rabid bear. Proton managed to
get off a few good moves. A Northern Lights suplex, an Asai moonsault.
He went for a piledriver, but Kodiak managed to counter with a Frankensteiner.
Looking to hurt Proton, Kodiak went for a figure four. Proton kicked
him off. Proton went for a European uppercut, but Kodiak ducked and
hooked up a backslide. Proton quickly got out of the pinning predicament.
Kodiak was done wrestling. He jumped onto
Proton and began wailing away with lefts and rights. Johnny's strategy
of wearing his friend down might not work.
Kodiak pounded and pounded and pounded, drawing
upon his street fighting experience to keep Proton down. A small
cut opened above Johnny's eye. A kick busted open his lip.
Johnny was bleeding. He was in a desperate way.
Finally, Proton regained control. During
the beating, Proton nailed a kick to the midsection and followed up with
a lightning quick DDT. Kodiak hit hard and Proton got up. He
put his hand to his mouth, seeing the blood. A look of disgust and
sadness crossed his face. It wasn't supposed to be like this.
As he turned around Kodiak floored him with a
diving forearm smash. Where Johnny would show mercy, Kodiak would
have none.
Kodiak tried to put Proton away with a Cradle
suplex. With that unsuccessful, he went for another. Proton
got out, grabbed Kodiak's legs and slingshot him into the corner.
Proton was in a fight for survival. If
Kodiak got on a roll.
The next few minutes were spent with more of
Proton trying to contain and wear down his friend. Watching Kodiak
writhing in and out of holds, screaming, was a terrifying sight.
Proton put him down with a power bomb and went up top. He hit a big
flying elbowdrop. Proton then reluctantly signalled to the crowd.
The Proton kick was coming.
Kodiak got up and Proton connected. Kodiak
hit the mat and Proton went for the pin.
1...
2...
ROPES!!! Kodiak was too
close to the ropes. Proton backed away, frustrated that this wasn't
the end of it. Kodiak got up to his feet. He was more than
a little upset.
The next thing Proton felt was Kodiak's fist
connecting with his *ahem*groin*ahem*. Kodiak had enough of this
tame stuff. He tossed Proton into the corner and beat the crap out
of him. Proton was getting bloodier by the second and his eye was
starting to swell up. This mean nothing to Kodiak. A series
of kicks to the midsection almost took Proton out of the corner with their
sheer force, but Kodiak made sure that he would still be there, receiving
a beating. Kodiak went for the eye with a series of jabs. He
kneed Proton right in the mouth. The fans were booing and were damn
near a riot. Kodiak wasn't letting up.
The ref tried to get involved, but Kodiak shoved
him to the mat. The ref got involved once more and Kodiak finally
stopped the beating. He grabbed the ref by the collar and started
yelling at him. Kodiak had lost it. Nobody in that ring was
safe.
Proton slowly rose to his feet in the corner.
With his one good eye, he saw his friend across the ring. Proton
was trembling. He didn't want this. He had hoped it could have
all worked itself out.
Screaming, Proton charged out of the corner and
tackled Kodiak from behind. He began pounding Kodiak's head into
the mat. Kodiak rolled over onto his back only to receive several
vicious lefts and rights to his face. Proton wasn't letting up.
He was giving Kodiak everything he had received. A cut opened up
on Kodiak's forehead. Proton wouldn't let up. He kept yelling
"Stop it, Stop it!" at the top of his lungs. Finally, Johnny Proton
bit Kodiak. He wouldn't let go. The ref finally pried Proton
off.
Kodiak was dazed on the mat, not sure what had
just happened. The crowd was exploding. Johnny Proton was finally
fighting back against Kodiak. The camera zoomed to a close up of
Proton's face.
He was crying.
Kodiak got to his feet and Proton took him down
with a leg lariat. Quickly, he followed up with a senton. He
went for the pin and held on like his life depended on it.

KICKOUT!!! Kodiak wasn't done and he was still
pissed as hell. Proton tried to lift Kodiak into a vertical suplex,
but Kodiak blocked it. He lifted Proton up and nailed him with a
massive brainbuster. He went for the pin. Two count.
Proton got up, tears of rage in his eyes. He was floored by a lariat
to the back of the head. Kodiak followed up with a standing moonsault.

NO!! KICKOUT!!!
Kodiak kept up. He climbed the the second turnbuckle and landed with
a reverse splash. Two count. Proton kept trying to get up,
but Kodiak kept kicking him in the ribs. Proton, angrier that we'd
ever seen him, screamed each time he tried to get back up. He was
losing it. Kodiak climbed to the top rope to finish Proton off.
Proton got up and shook the ropes. Kodiak
fell onto the top turnbuckle. Proton pulled him up to the top ropes,
grabbed him around the waist and hit him with a vicious spinning power
bomb from the top rope. Both men were down for a moment, but then
Kodiak sprang up to his feet. He climbed back up top and came off
with a somersault splash. He went for another pin. TWO COUNT!!!
Proton picked Kodiak up for a power bomb.
Kodiak backdropped out but Proton held on for a sunset flip.

Kodiak reversed the move, cradling Proton's legs.

(Johnny Proton retained the SMWA Cruiserweight
Title.)
Great match!!! Kodiak staggered over to
the ropes in disbelief. Proton stood up and looked at Kodiak.
He looked at his friend. The ref handed Proton the belt. Proton
draped it over his shoulder. Kodiak turned around.
Proton stuck out his hand. After being
beaten half to death, tears in his eyes, he still wanted to be Kodiak's
friend. He wanted to help him.
Kodiak's face was devoid of almost any emotion.
He looked like somebody had just died. He looked at Proton's hand
and then looked up at Proton. Johnny said something. "I'm here,
Kody." Kodiak looked into the eyes of Proton. He turned away,
dejected.
The crowd began it's chant of "loser".
Kodiak left the ring. Proton had tried. He had reached out
to his friend at every single turn. Kodiak was beyond any kind of
help.
There was no temper tantrum. No fit of
rage. Nobody was attacked, nothing was broken. Kodiak just
walked back to the dressing room, a broken, beaten man.
Johnny Proton, one of the finest men we've ever
seen in this sport, stood in the ring alone, eyes still red with tears.
But Proton has the fans. He has other friends in the dressing room.
He has his mother.
Who does Kodiak have?
Katherine Woods had called from the hospital and talked to our producers backstage. Mike Haggar has regained consciousness, but was still at the hospital. SMWA Commissioner Jack McCullough was on his way to the hospital to talk to him.
As we waited for some information, Nick Jones was backstage with "The Rebel" Jerry Kent.
JONES: We're keeping as close of an eye as we can on the Mike Haggar situation, folks, and will give you updates as they become available. But with me right now is "The Rebel" Jerry Kent. Jerry, you're going into that ring tonight against two monsters and an old foe of yours. What plans do you have for this match?
KENT: Well, I thought I'd eliminate myself
first and let the other three fight it out. Then I realized something,
Nick. I realized I'd rather win. But I want to talk about what
we just saw in that ring. That Proton kid impressed me and, while
he's not Simply the Best material, he looked damn good. You know
why he's that good? Because he worked for it. He never had
a World Champion holding his hand. I watch him and I see the future
of this business. I watch guys like Skarzz and Doomsday and see two
guys who are just damn tough and can roll over almost anybody.
You know what I see when I watch you Slade?
Nothing special.
All I see is a guy that would still be busting
his ass in the middle of the card if he didn't used to have the World Cha mpion
as his best friend. Now, you can bitch and moan, call me old and
yap all you want, but at the end of the day, what do you have. An
over inflated, undeserved opinion of yourself. Your push made you
a contender and it made me sick. Slade, you are nothing more than
a ticket seller, a publicity stunt, a hanger on. Doomsday and Skarzz
are going over the top. Once they're out, that's my chance to show
the World that Jack Slade is nothing more than a well-packaged fraud.
See ya later, kid.
There was a quick video recap of the troubles between Ron Grayson and Terry Sky. Our big six man tag team contest was coming up next.
The Battle of Sky Entertainment
Ltd.
Terry Sky's Highland Hit Squad
vs
Daredevil Productions
The best laid plans of Ron Grayson fell apart
fairly quickly. He thought he had everybody from Sky Entertainment
on his side. He couldn't get the Highlanders. He thought his
men could hack it. They couldn't. Now it was him and Monica
against over nine hundred pounds of Scottish fury.
Good luck, Ron.
Terry Sky came to the ring first, leading the Hit Squad down to the ring. He had a big smile on his face. In his mind, this feud was going to end tonight. His men were ready. Ron Grayson was a man without a team. It was going to be a slaughter. Sky grabbed the mic from ringside.
SKY: Okay, Grayson. Let's see what you got.
The God awful Daredevil Productions theme started
up. Ron Grayson came out with Monica... and nobody else.
Monica was wearing spandex. She looked
damn good. Weird, though. Usually she wore business suits...
Oh God. She's going to wrestle. Monica's
going to wrestle!
While fans in the audience were hollering at
Monica, making several obscene comments about her "look", Terry Sky was
laughing his ass off. Highland Hell were having a nice little chuckle,
too. This would be easy.
Grayson got into the ring and held the ropes
for Monica. She stretched on the ropes and looked ready to go.
Well, she always looked ready to go. She looked ready to wrestle.
Terry Sky talked into the mic once more, his sides nearly splitting with
laughter.
SKY: Oh boy, this should be good. Okay, ref, ring the bell.
"No, no, no, ref. Don't you ring that bell yet."
A familiar voice boomed over the PA system. Nobody had made their way into the arena since Grayson and Monica entered. The voice sounded darn familiar.
"See, you can't have a six MAN tag with one man, three Highlanders and a woman. That totally violates all sorts of contract stuff. Bad, bad, bad!!! You got the shirt ready?"
Another voice came over the PA.
"Yeah, I got his shirt right here."
"Do you have one for her?"
"Ha! Yeah, right! You seen the way she looks? I'm not giving anything that's going to cover up that body!"
"I see where you're coming from. Okay. No shirt for her."
"Do you think we can hold her to that?"
"Not yet."
"Did we leave the mics on?"
"Yes. Yes we did."
"Well, let's go."
"Let's"
******** Cue Simply the Best's Asshole Theme ********
Rick Clark and Cody Simmons made their way towards
the ring! And they were holding a Simply the Best T-Shirt.
Terry Sky's jaw dropped like a sack of bricks.
CLARK: Sure. We all know Monica's a great wrestler. Just not in the ring. And why would any moron - hi Terry - boot the North American Champion from their jobber fest? You have any idea, Mr. Simmons?
Clark's walking monologue had taken him and Cody to the ring.
CODY: I couldn't tell you, Mr. Clark. He's made dumber decisions in his life. But I will say this. If I could describe Monica and Ron Grayson with just three letter, those letters would be S! T! B!!!!
With that, Cody and Clark shook hands with Grayson. Terry Sky was flabbergasted. Ron Grayson had just become a part of Simply the Best! Once again, he and Rick Clark were on opposite sides of the ring. Fighting past the shock, Sky had just one thing to say.
SKY: Get 'em!
And the Highland Hit Squad attacked!
The Flying Scotsman fared off with the street
fighting Simmons. Ron Grayson got to Angus Wallace before he could
get to him, wanting to make him pay for his little "dances" directed towards
Monica. That left Tricky Rick with the four hundred pound Hamish
Mactavish.
As the other wrestlers spilled out of the ring,
Hamish began to maul Clark. With the element of surprise, Hamish
was able to make the match a brawl. Right down his alley. He
levelled Clark with a big lariat and then planted him with a bodyslam.
He ran off the ropes to deliver a splash. Clark quickly rolled out
of the way. As Hamish got up, Clark nailed him with a superkick.
Cody made his way into the ring and planted a
good flurry of punches into Hamish. He and Clark then hit a double
dropkick that took big Hamish off of his feet. Cody went to the other
corner and slapped Angus in the face. Wallace tried to get in the
ring but was stopped by the ref. Simply the Best were all over Hamish
in the meantime. When the ref turned around, Cody was in the ring,
insisting he had made the tag.
Cody continued pounding on Hamish. Hamish
finally fought back, shoving Cody to the mat. Cody got to his feet
and flipped Hamish the bird. Hamish charged him. Cody kicked
him in the stomach and dropped him with a DDT.
Clark and Cody took turns on Big Hamish, gradually
wearing the powerhouse down, piece by piece. Hamish was finally able
to gain an advantage, powerslamming Clark down to the mat. Quickly,
he tagged Angus.
Angus charged into the ring and was immediately
tripped by Clark. Clark ran over him and tagged Clark on the flying.
Clark held against the ropes, stopped himself and started yelling at the
referee. The ref sufficiently distracted, Cody nailed Angus with
a shot to the groin. Angus fell towards his corner and tagged the
Scotsman.
Hamish followed him in. Simply the Best
followed suit. The ring filled with both teams.
Cody hit Angus with another groin shot and shoved
him out of the ring. Grayson took himself and Hamish over the top
with a clothesline.
The Scotsman had hit Clark with a lucky spear
and then went for a spinning leg lariat. Clark ducked and Scotsman
bounced on the mat. Clark picked him up for a DDT and delivered.
Ron Grayson got back into the corner and was tagged in.
Clark picked the Scotsman up high and dropped
him with the Sky-Driver. With Scotsman down, Grayson, his first time
in the match legally, hit the Shooting Star Legdrop. The ref made
the count. It was pretty simple.
Simply the Best (Cody Simmons and Rick Clark
and Ron Grayson) defeated Terry Sky's Highland Hit Squad (Angus Wallace,
Hamish MacTavish and The Flying Scotsman) when Grayson pinned Scotsman
with the Shooting Star Legdrop in 0:06:28.
Rating: ** 1/4
Terry Sky was stunned at ringside. Monica
winked at him as she entered the ring. She had the Simply the Best
T-Shirt. In what must have passed for a ceremony, Monica handed Grayson
the T-Shirt, Cody and Clark slapped him on the ass and Grayson put the
shirt on.
Ron Grayson... Simply the Best... What a combo!
Grayson wanted to say more, though. He
grabbed a mic.
GRAYSON: Hey, Terry. I TOLD you I had a team. What you didn't know was that it was SIMPLY THE BEST team around!
Sky led the Highlanders back to the dressing room.
A part of the crowd was chanting
S! T! B! Grayson and his new friends partied in the ring for
a while. They were loving it.
More Mike Haggar news with Katherine Woods, live at the hospital.
WOODS: To start things off, Mike Haggar has regained consciousness. However, he is still under watch by the hospital staff. The good news is that he is going to be okay. However, we are not sure if he is going to back for our World Title match tonight. SMWA Commissioner Jack McCullough arrived at the hospital around twenty minutes ago and left again five minutes ago. He talked to Haggar and to a few of Haggar's doctors but would not inform anybody of what he learned. He is on his way back to the arena right now and should have some word on our World Title match. Again, though, the good news is that Mike Haggar is conscious and should be okay. Our World Title match, however, hangs in limbo. Let's go back to the arena.
Nick Jones was backstage for another interview.
JONES: Thank you for that update, Katherine. With me now is "The Cruncher" Jack Slade, who will, in moments, be participating in the BattleCrash match. Jack, you know all three of the men in that ring very well. You've battled Skarzz for the TV Title. You were an integral part in the war between the SMWA and the Doomsday Hunters. And the bad blood between you and Jerry Kent runs very deep. Simply put, you have three opponents in that ring who all don't like you. What do you think your chances are.
SLADE: Well, Jones, I'd say one in four.
Thing is, though, I've got a funny way of beating the odds. Skarzz
is massive. Nobody's every pinned him and he's beat my ass a few
times. I've never beaten Doomsday. Jerry Kent has taken me
to the limit time and time again, and you know what that means to me?
Nothing. Tonight's a whole new ball game.
Skarzz, you're big and your bad, but I don't
have to pin you to beat you. I might just do it anyway, though.
Just to be different.
Doomsday, we've gone before. I know I can
take whatever you give me. You don't scare me.
And Jerry Kent. Mr. Conspiracy theory.
You're getting a little paranoid as you get older, aren't you? Yadda
yadda ya, the government put a homing beacon in my dentures, yadda yadda
ya. I don't care why you think I'm here tonight and I don't even
care if you're right or not. Tonight, I have a chance at a World
Title shot. If you think I'm going to let you, the Green Giant or
Nasty Scabs take that away from me, you've got another thing coming.
It's crunch time for all of you. World Title, here I come.
BattleCrash - Winner Gets a World
Title Shot
"The Cruncher" Jack Slade

********* Cue Ring Announcer ********
RA: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is the BattleCrash match. All four men will be in the ring at the same times. There are only three ways you can be eliminated. A wrestler is eliminated if he is thrown over the top rope and both feet touch the arena floor. He will also be eliminated either by pinfall or submission, and pinfalls can count anywhere in the building. The winner of this contest will receive a World Title shot at SMWA New Year's Smash in January. Without further ado, let me introduce the participants.
******** KABOOM********
******** Cue Doomsday's Theme********
RA: First... Being led to the ring by Extinct... he hails from the Ashes of the Armageddon... He weighs in at four hundred pounds.... DOOMSDAY!!!
Doomsday came to the ring to a mixed reaction. His battles against Major Force and, more specifically, on the side of Mike Haggar have gained him some respect with certain fans. For the most part, though, the respect has been hard to come by.
******** Cue Major Force's Theme ********
RA: Being led to the ring by Saul Masters.... He represents Major Force... Weighing in at three hundred and fifty pounds... SKARZZ!!!
As soon as Masters stepped into the arena, he
was showered in boos. If nothing else, Skarzz would be the man the
fans hated in this match up. And why not? He might just have
robbed everybody of a Mike Haggar - Ghost rematch.
It was all Masters and Extinct could do to keep
their two charges separated from one another. Once that bell rang,
they wouldn't have to.
******** Cue Simply The Best's Asshole Theme ********
RA: Representing Simply the Best... He hails from Nashville, Tennessee.... Weighing in at two hundred and forty seven pounds.... "THE REBEL" JERRY KENT!!!
Simply the Best's popularity continues to grow. There were positive reactions to Grayson's "induction" earlier in the night and Jerry was getting quite a few cheers of his own. But his pop would be nothing compared to our next wrestler.
******** Cue Jack Slade's Theme ********
RA: And the final competitor... From Detroit, Michigan... Weighing in at two hundred and forty one pounds... "THE CRUNCHER" JACK SLADE!!!
The crowd burst into thunderous applause as Jack
Slade came to the ring. He was clearly the crowd favourite.
He walk ed to the ring carefully, looking at the three men who he would
face.
Slade climbed into the ring. The bell sounded.
Doomsday and Skarzz immediately went at one another.
Slade and Kent circled each other, ready to lock up, but then they saw
Doomsday and Skarzz brawling with one another. Both of the giants
were distracted. Slade and Kent might not have a better chance to
attack them.
Kent jumped onto Doomsday while Slade took Skarzz.
The sneak attack proved to be a big mistake for both men.
Doomsday had his way with Kent. Kent's
punches had no effect on Doomsday, who knocked him down with one left hand
to the jaw. Kent found himself pressed over Doomsday's head and thrown
to the mat. Doomsday followed up by squashing him with a senton.
Slade tried to work over Skarzz's legs with a
series of kicks. Skarzz grabbed Slade by the neck and took him down
with a big chokeslam. Skarzz then dropped a spinning elbowdrop onto
Slade and followed up with a chokehold.
The attack by Slade and Kent had been ill-concieved.
And they were paying for it. But Doomsday and Skarzz weren't interested
in those two. When Kent and Slade were both incapacitated, Doomsday
and Skarzz turned and saw one another.
They weren't finished.
Doomsday charged at Skarzz with a lariat.
Skarzz was staggered but did not go down. Doomsday charged again,
but Skarzz booted him in the stomach. Skarzz hit a lariat of his
own with much the same effect. The two giants then began exchanging
punches again.
Kent and Slade were slowly getting up on the
mat. They weren't going to take getting their asses kicked lying
down. Slade dropkicked Skarzz in the back of his knee while Kent
jumped up onto Doomsday's back and applied a sleeperhold. They weren't
done with the two giants yet.
Skarzz and Doomsday again didn't seem to care.
Doomsday grabbed Kent by the back of his head
and snapped him to the mat. He then started laying kicks into Kent's
stomach. Jerry had no choice but to roll outside for safety.
Slade bounced off the ropes and tried to hit
Skarzz with a leg lariat. Skarzz caught him and power bombed him
to the mat. Slade also rolled outside for safety.
Skarzz and Doomsday had the ring to themselves
once more. The two started exchanging punches again. Doomsday
broke the trend by picking Skarzz up and powerslamming him to the mat.
Skarzz sat up. Doomsday charged at him, but Skarzz managed to connect
with a lariat that again staggered Doomsday. Skarzz bounced off of
the ropes and levelled Doomsday with a Yakuza kick. Doomsday got
to his feet and nail Skarzz with a low blow on his way up. Quickly,
he grabbed Skarzz by the head and, showing some great technique, felled
him with a Fisherman's buster. Skarzz got up slower, but he finally
got up.
Outside, Jerry Kent was regaining his senses.
He tried to climb back into the ring but found his feet pulled out from
underneath him. Kent's chin hit the ring apron as Jack Slade made
sure that Kent would not get away from him. We had two matches going
on at once.
Slade kicked Kent hard in the ribs. Kent
bounced up to his feet and then was tasting floor as Slade hit a bulldog.
Slade then walked over to the timekeeper's table and grabbed the bell.
Kent got to his feet and then had his bell rung by Slade. Kent slumped
up against the ring steps. Slade planted a dropkick right in his
gut.
Doomsday dropped elbow after elbow on Skarzz
in the ring. He bounced off of the ropes for another elbowdrop, but
Skarzz rolled out of the way. A big lariat took Doomsday down again.
Skarzz then planted his boot right on Skarzz's windpipe, trying to cut
off his supply of oxygen. Doomsday grabbed Skarzz's boot and tried
to pry it off. Slowly, he succeeded.
Slade charged at Kent on the outside but was
stopped when Kent used a modified version of the Hotshot on the ring steps.
Slade's face bounced off of the steel, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Kent began laying the boots to Slade again.
Doomsday was up and he still had Skarzz by the
boot. He pulled Skarzz towards him and went for a lariat. Skarzz
ducked. Doomsday turned around and found himself floored with a big
powerslam. Doomsday got up and then was taken down again with a waistlock
suplex.
Kent grabbed a steel chair and smashed it against
Slade's head. He picked him up and whipped him to the guardrail.
Slade's back hit the steel hard.
Skarzz whipped Doomsday to the ropes and went
for a backdrop. Doomsday grabbed Skarzz and, in an incredible display
of power, executed a perfect spinning power bomb. Skarzz hit the
mat hard.
Kent approached Slade with the chair once more.
Slade grabbed the drink of a fan at ringside and tossed it into Kent's
face. Slade ran right over Kent with a lariat. He reached under
the ring and pulled out a table.
Doomsday approached the fallen Skarzz and grabbed
his mask. Skarzz put a hand around Doomsday's throat.
Slade set up the table and then placed Kent on
top of it. Looking to put the hurt on Kent, Slade climbed onto the
ring apron.
Skarzz had Doomsday standing and still had his
throat. Doomsday, not to be outdone, wrapped his hand around Skarzz's
throat. The two were in a stalemate.
Slade dove off of the apron with a flying elbowsmash.
The move sent both him and Kent through the table!
Both Skarzz and Doomsday attempted a choke slam
at the same time. Neither man went anywhere. But neither man
released his grip.
Slade got up out of the wreck of the table.
Kent was still down. Slade saw Doomsday and Skarzz deadlocked in
the ring. He grabbed a steel chair and climbed into the ring.
Doomsday was the first to receive a chair shot to the head. Skarzz
was next. Slade hit each man again for good measure. On his
third approach to Skarzz, Slade was kicked in the stomach. Slade
dropped the chair. Skarzz then executed a vicious piledriver onto
the chair. With Slade down, he started fighting with Doomsday again.
Jerry Kent started to stir on the outside.
He saw Slade and climbed into the ring. He went for a cover.
The ref was ready. Kent only got a two count.
Skarzz had Doomsday in the corner and started
punching him. Within seconds, Doomsday had the situation reversed.
Kent hit Slade with a Fisherman's suplex.
He got only a two count. Kent went for a figure four. Slade,
with something left, kicked Kent off.
The Rebel was pushed across the ring.... right
into Doomsday and Skarzz.
Doomsday and Skarzz, without thinking, turned
and nailed Kent with a vicious double lariat. Doomsday proceeded
to beat down Kent while Skarzz went after Slade. Slade was propping
himself up with the ropes. Skarzz charged at him. Slade kicked
Skarzz in the stomach and then hooked him up for a piledriver. To
the shock of everybody, Slade managed to pick the three hundred and fifty
pounder up for a POWER BOMB. The move took a lot out of both men,
but Skarzz was up first. He didn't have a chance to attack Slade,
however, as Doomsday clobbered him in the back of the head. The monsters
were fighting once more.
Slade and Kent both got to their feet once more
to find Doomsday and Skarzz fighting. This time, though, they could
do something. As Skarzz and Doomsday fought, they got closer and
closer to the ropes. Kent and Slade both looked at each other.
Then they looked at Skarzz and Doomsday, who were now leaning right on
the ropes. One last glimpse confirmed the course of action.
Slade charged Skarzz and grabbed one of his legs.
Kent did the same to Doomsday. While the two monsters we surprised,
Kent and Slade used all of their strength to heave them over the top ropes.
Skarzz and Doomsday went spilling outside.

Doomsday tried to climb back into the ring.
Skarzz pulled him down. Those two kept their fight going, eventually
disappearing to the back.
Sneaky as it was, they had both lost their World
Title shot. It all came down to two men at this point. Jack
Slade and Jerry Kent.
And they wouldn't waste any time.
Slade and Kent started tearing into each other
with punches and kicks. Slade managed to break off and nail Kent
with a superkick. Kent hit the mat and rolled outside. Slade,
not giving up the chase, climbed through the ropes. After all, it
was falls-count-anywhere.
Slade ran at Kent from behind and took him down
with a lariat. Slade, looking to take Kent out right there, started
peeling back the crash mats around the ring, exposing the concrete floor.
Slade readied Kent for a piledriver.
Kent was pulled off his feet for a second but
managed to block the move. He countered with a backdrop, sending
Slade back first onto the concrete. Kent quickly picked Slade up
and put him in DDT position. Slade pushed Kent back first into the
ring steps. Kent and Slade both went down and Slade was cut.
It looked like his head might have grazed the top of the ring steps as
he sent Kent into them. He was starting to bleed pretty badly.
Kent got up first and tossed Slade into the aisle.
He grabbed him and took him down with a big Russian legsweep. With
nothing to protect them but a thin layer of carpet, both men felt the impact
of the move. Slade took the worst. Kent made the cover.

NO!!! Slade kicked
out. Kent wouldn't stop, though. He picked Slade up and dropped
him with a vertical suplex. With Slade down, Kent made his way back
to the ring. He kicked the ring announcer out of his seat and grabbed
his chair. Kent went back up the aisle and approached the bloody
Slade. Kent charged at Slade with the chair. Slade dropkicked
the chair and sent it into Kent's torso. Slade got up and dropped
Kent with a vicious Soviet suplex. He made a cover.

NO!!! Shoulder! Slade unfolded the steel
chair and set it up on it's legs. He picked up Kent and tried to
smash his head into the chair. Kent countered with a low blow, followed
quickly by a DDT. He went for the pin.

SHOULDER!!! Neither of these two would go down.
Kent, getting desperate, went for Slade's injury. He began to pound
on the bloody cut which was now flowing on his forehead. Slade was
hurting and hurting badly. Kent had taken quite a bit out of the
kid. He backed up and waited for Slade to get to his feet.
When Slade was standing, Kent charged at him.
Slade dropped down and nailed Kent with a drop
toe hold. Kent's face went right into the steel chair. Kent
was dazed and managed to get to his feet. Slade quickly took him
down with a Concussion Bomb onto the same chair. The seat of the
chair dented and the chair was broken. Slade started spinning his
fist. He was signalling for the Spiked DDT.
Slade waited for Kent to get up to his feet.
Kent staggered up. The Concussion Bomb had bloodied his nose.
He turned around and was booted in the stomach. Slade hooked Kent's
head and his leg and dropped him to the ground with the Spiked DDT.
Slade made the cover, a World Title shot on the line.

Jack Slade had done it. He got to his feet,
his face a crimson mask, and raised his hands in victory. He had
done it! He was going to New Year's Smash to face the World Heavyweight
Champion! What a fight!
Now, the only question we need answered is who
will Jack Slade be facing? With news on that, Nick Jones was in the
back.
JONES: Fans, I'm here right now with SMWA Commissioner Jack McCullough. Mr. McCullough, I won't beat around the bush. What's Mike Haggar's condition.
MCCULLOUGH: Right now, Mike Haggar is still in the hospital. He took a fairly bad bump to the head and, barring a miracle, he might not be able to show up. However, I've already talked to the Championship Committee and we have a backup plan.
JONES: Well, what's the plan?
MCCULLOUGH: It's not complete as of yet. When it is, I will go out to the ring and let everybody know. Hopefully, that can be soon.
JONES: Commissioner McCullough, ladies and gentlemen. Back to you, John.
Our main event - or something - was coming up. But until McCullough could finalized his backup plan, we had time to fill. In that time, our TV and arena audience was treated to a repeat viewing of the Mike Haggar - Ghost encounter on Monday Night Massacre. They also got another look at the attack by Major Force. The whole thing took about twenty minutes. Finally, a bell rang in the arena. We were ready for our...

Ghost (C)
vs
Mike Haggar
******** Cue the Ring Announcer ********
RA: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Commissioner of the Slam Masters Wrestling Association, Jack McCullough!
McCullough came out to a nervous, anxious response. We knew Mike Haggar was still in hospital. It didn't look like he'd be here tonight. But McCullough had a backup plan. He was about to unveil it.
MCCULLOUGH: I'd like to call out Ghost and Saul Masters.
******** Cue Major Force Theme ********
Ghost and Masters came to the ring. Ghost had his usual stone face. Masters had a grin on his face. Mike Haggar was still in hospital. Ghost would keep his title. Masters and Ghost climbed into the ring and stood right across from McCullough. McCullough let loose.
MCCULLOUGH: I don't know who the hell you think you are, Masters, but if you think I'm going to let you destroy cards that I put together, you have another thing coming. This was supposed to be Mike Haggar's shot tonight and you took that away. And you, Ghost. You're no better. You're nothing more than a coward who didn't want to lose his World Title belt tonight. So you went and took out the competition. Mike Haggar's in a hospital bed right now and he will not be wrestling in tonight's main event. You have robbed these fans of what could have been a great main event.
The fans started to boo Masters and Ghost. They were pissed off.
GHOST: Just because your hero isn't man enough to get out of the hospital...
MCCULLOUGH: Shut the Hell up, I am not done talking. Now, you robbed Mike Haggar of his World Title shot tonight. Not much we can do about that. Except for this. If you're still World Champion by New Year's Smash, and I can guarantee you that, if you don't have that belt that you won't even be showing up on the card, you will have a Title defence. The only way you're wrestling at New Year's Smash is if you're still the World Champion, and it will be in a World Title defence against Mike Haggar!
The crowd exploded into cheers. Ghost would be held accountable for his actions. He would still have to face Mike Haggar down the line. Ghost couldn't be happy.
GHOST: First, what do you mean by "if"? Secondly, I don't know if you've forgotten, but I can't face Mike Haggar for the World Title at New Year's Smash because I'm supposed to be facing Jack Slade.
MCCULLOUGH: Nope. I've changed my mind. If you're still the Champ, you're defending your Title against Mike Haggar. You will be facing Jack Slade TONIGHT!!!
******** Cue Jack Slade's Theme ********
Jack Slade came through the entrance. He
had been stitched up from the last match and was sporting a bandage across
his forehead. Aside from that, he looked ready to go. He looked
ready to win the World Title.
MCCULLOUGH: Before you complain, you will
face Jack Slade or you will be striped of the Title. And if you get
yourself disqualified or counted out, the Title WILL go around Slade's
waist. End of story, ring the bell.
Suddenly, we had a new main event.
Slade came into the ring and was immediately attacked
by Ghost. Slade fought off the attack and, within seconds, had brought
Ghost down with a Concussion Bomb. Quickly, Slade locked on the Cruncher
Crab. After a few seconds of agony, Ghost barely got to the ropes.
He went back at Slade but found himself dropped by a Northern Lights bomb.
Slade quickly hooked on a figure four leglock. Ghost was in a lot
of pain and could not escape. He found his shoulders on the mat and
the ref started counting. Ghost got off of the mat just in time.
Slade had Ghost locked up for about a minute before he finally broke the
hold.
Slade grabbed Ghost by the hair and slammed him
to the mat. He climbed to the middle turnbuckle, but Ghost was ready.
He punched Slade in the stomach and quickly took him off of the buckles
with a Frankensteiner. Ghost grabbed Slade by the neck and tossed
him outside of the ring. He leapt onto him with a plancha and the
brawl continued outside.
Ghost took the ring bell and smashed it into
Slade's midsection before ringing it across his skull. Ghost then
hit a DDT on Slade. Slade hit the ground hard. Already, the
bandage on his head was going red again.
Ghost picked Slade up and whipped him hard into
the guardrail. He then picked Slade up and hit a spinning power bomb
onto the floor. Dragging Slade to the announce table, Ghost picked
up a TV monitor and smashed it into Slade's head. He took Slade into
the ring steps one more time before rolling him back into the ring.
Slade had already fought through BattleCrash
and was now fighting Ghost. He might have agreed to it, but he probably
hadn't realized the battle he would be fighting.
Ghost kept laying the boots to Slade before whipping
him into the ropes. Slade ducked under a lariat and quickly turned
Ghost around for a STUNNER!!! Ghost got up fairly quickly but was
taken down by a swift power bomb. Slade went for the pin. He
got a two count. He picked Ghost up for another move but quickly
found Ghost behind him. Ghost picked Slade up and nailed him with
a backdrop driver. Ghost was in firm control.
Slade couldn't muster any offence. Ghost
began to unwrap the bandage on Slade's head, revealing the freshly
stitched wound. Ghost made sure it would need more stitching, hitting
it with several punches. A thrust kick to the jaw put Slade down
once again. Ghost picked him up and went for an Exploder suplex and
connected. Slade tried to get up but flopped onto his face.
Ghost picked him up and went for the Final Breath. Slade backdropped
Ghost off. Slade tried for the Spiked DDT. Ghost backdropped
him away. Ghost hooked Slade's arms one more time and connected with
the Final Breath. The ref went for the pin.

3SHOULDER!!! SLADE GOT HIS SHOULDER UP!!!
THE MATCH WAS STILL GOING!!!
Ghost dropped Slade with another power bomb and
went for another pin. Still, Slade kicked out. Ghost tried
most of the moves in his arsenal, but nothing was working. This was
Slade's shot, and he wasn't going to give up easy.
Ghost took Slade down with a brain buster and
went up top to finish things. Slade managed to get to his feet and
fall onto the ropes. Ghost fell spread eagled on the top. Slade
went up quickly and nailed Ghost with a belly-to-belly superplex!
Both men hit hard and weren't moving. The ref made the count.

2...KICKOUT!!! Ghost
still had a lot left in his tank.
And he had Major Force coming down to ringside.
Slade picked up Ghost off of the mat and piledrove
him. He went for another cover. Two count. Slade saw
Major Force at ringside and was distracted. Grater began jawing with
him and Slade started jawing back. Ghost took advantage with a vicious
release Dragon suplex. He locked on a Dragon Sleeper and waited for
Slade to pass out.
Slade struggled to get out of the move.
He tried to reach the ropes but Ghost kept him in the centre of the ring.
Slowly, Slade's strength started to ebb. After all he had gone through,
he couldn't have too much left. Slade began to go. The ref
checked his arm.
Up...and down.
Up....and down a second time.
Up...AND IT STAYED UP!!! Jack Slade was fighting
the Dragon Sleeper and fighting back to his feet. He wasn't done
yet. He managed to get a footing and, with all of his strength, flip
over and behind Ghost.
Ghost merely turned around and floored Slade
with a DDT. He moved him towards the turnbuckle and then started
to climb up. Gracefully, Ghost flew off of the top ropes with a shooting
star press.
Ungracefully, he crashed to the mat as Jack Slade
moved away. Both men were slow to get up. Slade got to his
feet first.
Skarzz and Grater got up onto the ring apron.
Skarzz grabbed the referee, trying to distract him. Grater had a
chair. He tossed it to Ghost.
Slade intercepted. He ran at Grater and
smashed him in the head, knocking him off of the apron. Skarzz received
the same treatment.
Ghost tried to sneak up on Slade. He tossed
him into the ropes. Slade bounced off, jumped onto Ghost and hit
the SPIKED DDT!!! With everything he had ever done leading up to
this moment, Slade made the biggest cover of his life.

in 0:12:24.
Rating: *****
(Jack Slade won the SMWA World Heavyweight
Title.)
What a match!!! Slade didn't spend much time celebrating in the ring. Skarzz and Grater were already after him. Slade slid outside, grabbed the belt off of the timekeepers table and went into the crowd to celebrate!
He had lived on the streets of Detroit as a kid.
He used to be a master thief. He was almost one of those people that
society loses before they can contribute. Now, he is the Slam Masters
Wrestling Association Heavyweight Champion of the World!!! Jack Slade
has accomplished a dream and was ready for anything.
And if we're right in guessing who his next opponent
will be....he better be!
