But first, SMWA Commissioner
Jack McCullough was going to address the grizzly situation we saw last
week. For those of you who don't remember, Zangief nearly choked
the life out of Chad Hillsman in the aftermath of their strap match.
Zangief hung Hillsman over the top rope and tried to drain every ounce
of breath out of his body. Hillsman required medical attention and
even artificial respiration on the way to the hospital.
McCullough wasn't going to let
Zangief's actions go unanswered. He came to the ring, a serious look
on his face. McCullough is one of the few commissioners in wrestling
that doesn't elicit boos wherever he goes, but when it comes to getting
things done, there are few better. McCullough grabbed the microphone.
"I would like to call Zangief down to the ring."
Zangief came down to the ring in street clothes, not looking like a happy camper. Still, there was no remorse in his face, no look of apology. He came right into the ring and stood right up to McCullough. Jack wasn't fazed.
"Now, I'll warn the rest of you right now, this is some pretty graphic footage, so if you don't want to watch, I suggest you turn your head. Zangief, you don't have that option. Watch the screen."
Zangief looked at SlamVision
as the sickening events of last Monday Night played. Again, we saw
Hillsman being hung, eyes turning red and his body going into convulsions.
Many fans in the audience couldn't bear to watch the scene. Some
parents were covering their children's eyes. And even though a few
fans cheered Chad Hillsman getting the life choked out of him, the arena
was mostly silent.
Zangief, emotionless, stared
right at the screen.
"We've seen enough." McCullough ordered the SlamVision off and then turned to Zangief.
"I don't want to hear justifications.
I don't want to hear excuses. I don't want to hear a single word
from you, Zangief. This is not a two way conversation. This
is me talking. It's in your best interests to listen."
"This is a violent sport.
People try to injure each other. People try to cripple each other.
People try to destroy each other. But what you did last Monday, Zangief,
went far beyond anything that even comes close to being acceptable in that
ring. If those referees hadn't made it to the ring, would you have
let go? If we didn't cut that leather strap in half, would you have
let go? If the police hadn't handcuffed you and led you away from
the ring, if you weren't in jail for a night, would you have let go?"
McCullough and Zangief stared right at each other, neither man betraying any emotion or any clue as to what was going to come next. McCullough continued.
"I know you hate Hillsman.
I know who he is, I know what he has done, I know what he has said.
Frankly, he's scum of the earth. But even though he's pushing the
first amendment to the edge, even though he's attacking you personally,
he has every right to say it. I don't mean to sound like him, but
that is a right everybody in this country enjoys."
"You, Zangief? As far
as I'm concerned, what you did last week was attempted murder and you're
damn lucky I don't kick your ass on the street! You're lucky it happened
in a wrestling ring, or else you could very well be in jail right now!
But don't think that because you aren't behind bars means you're getting
off easy."
"Zangief, I am fining you one
hundred thousand dollars for what you did last week, and you will pay me
that money by the end of the week or you contract will be null and void!"
A startled reaction went through the crowd. One hundred THOUSAND!!! That was huge! And Zangief wasn't going to stand for it!
"Vait a minute, McCollogh. Zat money goes home to my vamily. My mother iz dead. My father is gone. Zey are supported by me! You can't ask me to give zat kind of money! You can't take zat money away."
McCullough looked Zangief right in the eyes. "Zangief, for a guy who talks so much about his family you sure did them a big dishonour last Monday. Do you think your parents want to look down and see their son as a murderer??? Is that the kind of example you want set? You can refuse to pay the fine, but if you do, then you've lost your job and whatever other money you can make. If you can't pay, then you'll wrestle for free until we're even, but you're going to pay. But that's not all. You are officially on probation. You attack anybody outside of a standard wrestling match, no matter what the circumstances, you will be suspended without pay for as long as I see fit!"
The crowd was not happy with this decision. McCullough was being booed out of the building. To do this to Zangief...
Before McCullough could address the boos, they became even louder. Chad Hillsman and Gunloc had just made their way into the arena. Hillsman was wearing a turtleneck and was not looking too happy. Hillsman had a mic.
"If I were a lesser man, Zangief, I'd have you rotting the rest of your life away behind bars. I don't know how familiar you are with American Movies, but there's a Clint Eastwood movie out there called "Hang Em High". One line you should take to heart. 'You hang a man, you better finish the job."
Hillsman pulled down his turtleneck to reveal a neck covered in a vicious burn from the leather strap. Hillsman had been marked by Zangief's attack last week. But he wasn't mad. There was a cold, calculating look in Hillsman's eyes.
"The way I heard it from McCullough, you can't touch me outside of a wrestling ring. Too bad it doesn't go both ways."
McCullough cut Hillsman off. "Actually, Chad, it does. You can wrestle against him as many times as you like, however you like. But I'm sick and tired of hearing you mouth off about anything and everything that isn't American. I'm half Canadian, Hillsman, so you better watch what it is you attack. And you better not physically attack Zangief, because if you do, you will also be suspended without pay."
The crowd exploded into cheers. McCullough was playing both sides evenly.
"Now, you have a match tonight against Teioh. I suggest you go back and prepare. Zangief, I suggest you go back there yourself. And both of you remember what I said, and don't for one second think that it is an idle threat."
Hillsman was fuming, but Gunloc
led him into the back. Zangief gave McCullough a look that could
cut steel, but McCullough didn't care. He came to that ring with
a message, and it was delivered full force.
Zangief and Hillsman can feud
all they want. But if they take it outside the ring....
This is going to get interesting.
As we were going to commercial, we saw Simply the Best getting out of a car in the parking lot, walking towards the building. Cody has a match tonight against King Rasta, and Clark and Kent are likely along for "support". But when the cameraman tried to get close to StB, Kent shoved him to the ground. It's not like StB to abusive like that. Wonder what was going on?
SMWA Cruiserweight
Title Match
Teknos (c)
vs Rokuru w/ Teddy
The Teddy Bear of Destruction as the Cruiserweight Champion? It could happen right here. Teknos hasn't really been challenged since winning the belt from Kodiak a few weeks ago. Rokuru is goofy, he is silly and he may not be all there, but the guy is a dangerous wrestler. The last thing Teknos needs to do is not take Rokuru seriously.
Teknos got an early lead in this
encounter, flooring Rokuru with a quick rolling kick. Not going to
the air, Teknos kept knocking his shorter opponent over with lariats and
dropkicks. The portly Rokuru quickly rolled outside the ring to regroup.
The match started again with
more of the same until Rokuru was able to floor Teknos with a jumping DDT.
Rokuru took control. He climbed the top rope and rolled up the groggy
Teknos with a perfectly executed Frankensteiner.
1...
2...
NO!!! Teknos saved his title. But it was close. Rokuru
wasn't discouraged, however. Looking to Teddy for encouragement,
he continued his assault. Teknos was spiked to the ground with a
spinebuster slam. Rokuru then connected with a Niagara Driver, again
putting Teknos on the mat. Climbing to the top again, Rokuru hit
a devastating flying headbutt and went for the pin.
1...
2...
Thre...NO!!! Teknos again kicked out. Rokuru, realizing Teknos
needed wearing down, locked the luchador in an armlock/leglock submission,
nearly tying Teknos into a pretzel. Rokuru placed a groggy Teknos
on the top turnbuckle and hit a belly-to-belly superplex. Not content
to finish it there, Rokuru took Teknos up top again to repeat the move.
Teknos managed to plant a few
forearms into the midsection of Rokuru. Rokuru wasn't moving off
of the second turnbuckle, though. But Teknos kept up his shots and,
in desperation, jumped onto the chest of Rokuru. The two fell back
to the mat, the impact knocking both men out.
Rokuru was first up. He
climbed up top once again, going for another flying Frankensteiner.
Teknos was ready this time, grabbing Rokuru by the legs and power bombing
him to the mat.
Teknos was on the comeback trail.
He nailed Rokuru with a moonsault and dropped him with a Doctor Bomb for
a near fall. Looking to put Rokuru out, Teknos locked on a figure
four sleeper. But Rokuru was ready. He managed to get onto
his knees and, using power we didn't know he had, stood up with Teknos
on his shoulders!!! But Teknos wasn't done. He took Rokuru
down with a Victory Roll. Two count!!!
Teknos put Rokuru on the turnbuckle
and hit a Frankensteiner. With Rokuru on the mat, Teknos scaled the
ropes and corkscrewed off with the Teknospinner!!! He went for the
cover.
1...
2....
NO!!! ROKURU KICKS OUT!!! AMAZING!!!
Teknos wouldn't stop.
He picked up Rokuru and whipped him into the ropes. Teknos went to
the opposite ropes and charged at Rokuru with a lariat. Rokuru ducked.
He tried to hit Teknos with a Yakuza kick. Teknos ducked and rebounded
off of the ropes, but before he could hit any move Rokuru dropped into
backdrop position, grabbed Teknos' legs and flipped back for the Roku Driver!!!
Quickly, he went for the pin.
1...
2....
3!!! OH MY GOD!!!
Rokuru pinned Teknos with
the Roku driver in 0:08:04.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Rokuru won the SMWA Cruiserweight
Title.)
The crowd went crazy!!! Rokuru!
The Teddy Bear of Destruction! THE Cruiserweight Champion!!!
Incredible.
Rokuru grabbed the belt and
then went to Teddy. He picked Teddy up and, in a gesture of...something,
he put the belt around Teddy's ample waist. Rokuru lifted Teddy onto
his shoulders for all to see.
Rokuru. Wow. Good
thing Clepto the Clown never got a World Title match.
We went to commercial and, upon returning, Nick Jones was outside the Simply the Best locker room. He was looking for an interview.
Jones: Fans, I'm outside the dressing room of Simply the Best who, just moments ago, manhandled one of our cameramen in the parking lot. Simply the Best were talking about something, something they didn't want anybody to know about. I'm going to try to get in...
And with that, the dressing room opened up and out came ... RON GRAYSON???
Grayson: (into the dressing room) Thanks guys, good to know you'll be there for me....
Grayson then literally bumped into Jones. Shocked, he ran back into the dressing room.
Jones: That was Ron Grayson! Ron Grayson was in the dressing room with Simply the Best, and Ron Grayson has a World Title match against Mike Haggar tonight! I don't know what's going on here, but I can promise you fans right now that I'll be here all night at this door until something else develops. Back to you, John.
Ron Grayson was in the Simply
the Best dressing room, and he thanked somebody for "being there for him".
It looks bad for Mike Haggar.
Kodiak Marmoset and Johnny Proton vs F-X
Kodiak Marmoset is obsessed and
he knows it. He's so obsessed that he couldn't even wait ten days
until Thanksgiving Thunder to take on Clone. He had to get at him
early. As such, we have a rematch. Kodiak Marmoset would once
again team up with Johnny Proton (who has been incredibly patient in this
whole situation) against the flashy duo of F-X.
Kodiak's career hasn't been
the same since Clone handed him his first pinfall defeat. He's lost
the Cruiserweight Title, has been assaulted by Zangief and Tim Redbury
and, right here last week, was defeated by Shadow Maxx in thirty eight
seconds. Kodiak needs to pin Clone to regain his sanity. But
who knows if he can do it tonight?
F-X again came to the ring like
they always do - dressed as their opponents. This did not sit well
with Kodiak at all. Upon entering the ring, he demanded that Clone
be the one to start the match. Clone wasn't going to bite.
He remained on the apron, ignoring the frantic screaming of Kodiak.
"Get in the ring, you pussy!!!" Kodiak had lost it. But if
he had to beat up the Actor to get to Clone...
Clone tore into the Actor like
he was a piece of meat at Thanksgiving dinner. He beat on him until
the Actor could barely stand. Tired of beating on Actor, Kodiak tagged
Proton in to the match.
And maybe just to piss Kodiak
off, Clone stormed into the ring and levelled Proton. The Actor tagged
and F-X began double teaming Proton as Kodiak stood on the apron, screaming
"TAG ME!!!" But F-X would not let up. Proton was getting beat
within an inch of his life. Kodiak tried to get in to the ring to
stop the carnage, but he was stopped by the referee, allowing the double
team to continue. Kodiak's rage was costing his team.
Proton finally made a comeback,
catching the Actor in a power bomb from a Frankensteiner. Struggling
to his corner, Proton tagged Kodiak.
The Actor tagged Clone.
Kodiak almost flew across the
ring to get to Clone. The attack wasn't a crisp one, but it sure
as hell was vicious. Kodiak beat Clone down and had to be pried off
by the referee.
Kodiak jawed with the ref as
Clone was regaining his composure. Kodiak returned to the corner
only to be hit in the face with THE FINISHER!!! Clone had just rocked
Kodiak with his trademark superkick. Clone lay over a prone Kodiak
and made the pin.
1...
2...
NO! Kodiak kicked out! Good thing, too. The Actor was
tagged in, but Kodiak quickly floored him with the Finisher. Both
men lay prone in the ring. Slowly, there was movement. The
Actor tried to keep Kodiak from making the tag. He failed.
Johnny Proton stormed the ring,
taking down both members of F-X. The Actor and Clone were both on
the receiving end of the Proton Kick, and that was enough for them.
Rolling outside, F-X ran to the back.
Seeing his foes making an escape,
Kodiak charged backstage after the SMWA Stuntmen. Proton was the
legal man as F-X was counted out, with Kodiak in hot pursuit.
Kodiak Marmoset and Johnny
Proton defeated F-X when Proton defeated The Actor by countout in 0:15:11.

The obsession continues.
After a commercial break, we again went back to Nick Jones, who had some late breaking developments.
Jones: Fans, I'm here with Monica, the "intern" of Sky Entertainment Ltd, still outside the Simply the Best locker room. Monica, have you come here looking for Ron Grayson.
Monica: Well, DUH, Nicky. I mean, Ron has only been talking to those three all daaayyyy.........
The door to the StB locker room opened and Monica was pulled inside. Jones tried to force his way in but was shoved out by a member of Simply the Best. Flustered, he continued his report.
Jones: Well fans, Monica was just pulled in to the Simply the Best locker room. Obviously they heard her talking, but what we did get from Monica seemingly only confirmed that Ron Grayson is in the StB dressing room. Well, not that seeing him there didn't prove that, but... It's just... Aw, back to you, John.
Ron Grayson's
been talking to Simply the Best all day. This does not look good
for Haggar.
The Stakeout
Continues...
SMWA World Tag
Team Title Match
Fuerza Dragon
(c) vs Highland Hell w/ The Flying Scotsman
With a lot of help from Major Force, Highland Hell secured a win over the Philadelphia X-Treme Machine on Saturday Night Slam Masters. That win elevated them to number one contenders status, earning them a match with Fuerza Dragon, who have made some people forget that the SMWA has tag team champions. Fuerza Dragon can make you remember, though. They can do that real fast.
Hamish Mactavish started the
match off and, nearly outweighing Fuerza Dragon combined, had a fairly
easy time of it. Dragon de Hielo tried to use a hit and run strategy,
but Hamish shrugged most of the moves off. A Frankensteiner proved
disastrous as Hamish power bombed Hielo to the mat. Not content with
doing it just once or even twice, Hamish power bombed Hielo three times!!!
A tag was made to Angus as Hielo lay helpless in the middle of the ring.
Highland Hell dominated Hielo, using their size to negate any advantage
he might have.
Finally, Hielo was able to make
a tag when Hamish missed a big splash. Fuego came in with fire in
his eyes....for all the good it did him. Fuego came off the top with
a flying bodypress and was powerslammed to the mat. Hamish and Angus
continued their vicious double team. It was a long squash, but it
was a squash. Hamish mercifully ended the match with an inverted
power bomb. Fuerza Dragon was being sucked out of the mat as Highland
Hell put on their SMWA World Tag Team Titles.
Highland Hell defeated Fuerza
Dragon when Hamish pinned Fuego after an inverted power bomb in 0:09:43.
Rating: ** 1/2
(Highland Hell won the SMWA
World Tag Team Titles.)
Highland Hell dragged the match
out as much as they could before pinning the hapless Dragons. There
would be little time to celebrate, however.
Storming to the ring were Steelworks,
unbeknownst to the Highlanders. Andrew Marshall and Rod Emerson,
chairs in hand, smashed Highland Hell from behind, knocking them unconscious.
Steelworks still wants a piece of Highland Hell in the worst possible way,
and they will do anything they have to to get it.
We took a commercial and returned to Nick Jones, who was still waiting outside Simply the Best's locker room.
Jones: Folks, our next match is King Rasta against Simply the Best member Cody Simmons, so this door is going to be opening any second now and...Cody Simmons and Jerry Kent...
Simmons and Kent had left the dressing room and were stopped by Jones.
Jones: Guys, if I might have a moment of your time, I'd like to talk to you about Ron Grayson.
Cody: Ron who? Oh, Grayson. Why would you want to know about him.
Jones: Because we all saw him try to leave your dressing room and because Monica is now in there after somebody from inside the dressing room pulled her in. Cody, what's the deal?
Cody: Jones, you need to calm down. You feeling okay? You been eating right?
Kent: Hey, that's a nice camera over there. I haven't seen you around before...
Kent was talking to the cameraman.
Kent: What's your name, kid?
Cameraman: Me? My name's Eric.
Jones: Can we get back to my question?
Kent: Ouch. Tough break. You know, Eric, you're never going to actually BE on camera, just working behind it and all. How would you like to be on camera? Would you like that?
Eric: Well, yeah. That'd be great, Mr. Kent.
Jones: I would still like my question answered, guys.
Kent: Here let me take that...
Kent took the camera from Eric and positioned it so that Eric was the main focus - and so that the camera was facing AWAY from the door.
Kent: Anybody you want to say hi to at home, Eric?
As Eric rattled off a list of names, running footsteps were heard in the background and a loud "ouch" was heard from Nick Jones as he was dropped onto the floor. Kent gave Eric the camera back.
Jones: ERIC!!! You just missed Ron Grayson and Monica leaving the Simply the Best locker room!!! Damn it, Eric!
Cody: Grayson and Monica just left our dressing room? Wow. Too bad you don't have that on tape. Tough break, Jonesy.
And with that, Cody Simmons was accompanied by Jerry Kent for a VERY big match. Jones was heard chewing out his cameraman as we switched shots to the ring.
SMWA Television
Title Match
King Rasta
(c) w/ Bobby the Monkey vs Cody Simmons w/ Jerry Kent
The three hundred pound man with
the monkey was going to face off against the two hundred pounder with Jerry
Kent. Any further comments would only be insulting.
Cody's best bet to win this
match would be to hit and run. Rasta is an excellent brawler, but
Cody is much more crisp. He could probably box circles around Rasta.
Rasta's best bet would be to catch Cody and then just overpower him from
there. Either way, this would be an interesting bout.
Cody spent the first few minutes
of the match taunting Rasta, avoiding clinches, shadow boxing and making
monkey noises to piss the big Rastafarian off. Not a good idea.
Cody got sloppy one time and was levelled by a big lariat. Rasta
kept beating Cody down and hit him with a deadly standing neckbreaker.
Rasta went for an early pin, but referee "Jumbo" Jack Flap only reached
two. Rasta picked Cody up and hit him with a running powerslam for
another very near fall.
Jerry Kent jumped up onto the
apron and got Jumbo's attention. Flap quickly got Kent off the apron,
but not before Cody could hit a vicious low blow that gave him the edge
in the bout. Jumbo wasn't sure how Cody had brought Rasta down, but
he had an idea.
Cody stung like a bee with every
punch, keeping Rasta off balance. A vicious shoulder toss put Rasta
right on his back, where Cody covered him for a near fall. The stinging
punches continued until Cody swung wide on a right hook. Rasta wrapped
him up in a belly-to-belly suplex, taking Cody to the mat.
Both men got to their knees,
where a "slugfest" ensued. Rasta made his way to his feet first,
whipping Cody to the ropes. Cody came back and rocked Rasta with
a bulldog. He stood Rasta up against the ropes and started laying
into him with punches, including a big uppercut that sent Rasta to the
outside.
Cody climbed outside, where
the brawl continued. The crowd was reacting to something, but we
couldn't see what at first. The camera panned to the aisle.
It was Grant Redstone, sneaking towards the ring. But before he could
even get to the ringside area, Shadow Maxx leapt out of the crowd and attacked
him, once again protecting Rasta. These two brawled yet again, heading
into the back.
In the meantime, Rasta had just
hit Cody with a variation of the Dread Lock Drop off of a table.
Rasta rolled a groggy Cody into the ring but was distracted by Kent before
he could make the cover.
Kent was rather blatant when
he threw a steel chair to Cody, so much so that Jumbo turned around to
see Cody take the swing. Rasta ducked, booted Cody in the stomach
and grabbed the chair. He walloped Cody in the head and went for
the cover. Before Jumbo could do anything about the pin, Kent stormed
the ring and attacked Rasta. The bell rang.
Kent was beating the hell out
of Rasta, but Rasta still had fight left in him. He hit Kent below
the belt and heaved him over the top rope. When Cody got up, he received
more of the same.
And when the ring was clear,
Jumbo raised RASTA'S hand!!!
King Rasta defeated Cody Simmons
by disqualification in 0:09:30.
Rating: **
(King Rasta retained the
SMWA Television Title.)
Rasta
had hit Cody over the head with a chair, but CODY got disqualified???
Kent and Simmons were livid at ringside, Kent holding a still groggy Cody
back.
Jumbo
had just made an interesting call. Cody was the first to attempt
to use the chair. Rasta did use it. Kent then interfered.
Then Cody got disqualified.
Interesting
on the part of Jumbo...
We went to another commercial break and again went backstage to Nick Jones.
Jones: Folks, Jerry Kent and Cody Simmons just returned to the Simply the Best locker room moments ago and I have received permission to enter. Eric, follow me in and keep the camera on me this time, okay.
Jones entered the dressing room. Cody had a big ice pack on his head. Kent was on the phone, bitching to somebody about Jumbo. Rick Clark was ready to be interviewed.
Clark: Well, Nick Jones! How are you?
Jones: Fine. Rick, about Ron Grayson....
Clark: Ron who?
Jones: RON GRAYSON!!! We have videotape of him going in to this room! We have videotape or Monica getting pulled into the room! I saw him myself on his way out! He was here, Rick!
Clark: Hm. Too bad you didn't get that last one on tape. You sure you're okay? You been eating right?
Jones: I'VE BEEN EATING FINE!!! Look, Ron Grayson was in here earlier tonight and he has a match coming up with Mike Haggar for the World Title. I think you guys are going to be involved somehow. Now I want answers and I want answers NOW!
Cody: Hey! Can you not yell? My head hurts.
Clark: Jonesy, think for a second. Sure, Grayson's got a match tonight, but Haggar has a match with me at Thanksgiving Thunder. Why would I help GRAYSON win the Title? Wouldn't that be a little counter-productive? Look, here's five bucks. Go to the concession stand, buy yourself a hot dog or something. You look like Hell. Get some food in your stomach, calm down and we'll talk, okay?
Kent: Bye, Eric.
Jones protested as Clark ushered him out of the dressing room. But Jones and Eric ended up outside the dressing room, the door slamming shut. Jones still had the five in his hand. He put it in his pocket.
Jones: Back to you, John.
"The All-American" Chad Hillsman w/ Gunloc vs Teioh w/ Zists and Naga Yajito
It's somewhat surprising that Hillsman and Teioh haven't crossed paths more often, what with Chad's distinct hatred for anything non-American. You figure a Japanese Lord of Darkness would be somewhat of a threat. I guess Zangief is a bigger one. Not surprising. Still, there is no guarantee that we won't see this feud somewhere down the line, so this may serve as a little "teaser".
Just as
the match started, Zangief came to the top of the ramp and stared right
at Hillsman. Hillsman managed to take Teioh down with a lariat and
then he turned to see Zangief. We must remember that Zangief cannot
attack Hillsman unless he is wrestling against him.
Hillsman
began jawing with Zangief, challenging him to come towards the ring.
Teioh was getting up and was about to attack while Hillsman had his back
turned. Teioh assumed a fighting stance and began to step forward
for a kick to the head...
When a
brilliant flash of light appeared in front of Teioh, blinding him.
Hillsman was oblivious to the light and turned around to see a blinded
Teioh staggering around the ring.
We had
seen this once before. The last time Teioh was blinded, he merely
closed his eyes and fought in the dark. Hillsman remembered this.
He stayed back, not wanting to let Teioh get any advantage. Teioh
stood in mid ring, made a sweeping motion with his hands and stood ready
to fight, eyes closed. The referee checked on him to see if he was
okay. Teioh floored him with a knife edge chop. The bell rang.
Chad Hillsman defeated Teioh
by disqualification in 0:01:33.
Rating: * 1/4
Hillsman
wasn't going to wait around for Teioh to attack him. He got out of
the ring, followed closely by Gunloc. They rapidly approached the
dressing room.
Zangief
was still standing at the top of the ramp. Hillsman noticed this
while Zangief was a mere five feet away. Instinctively rubbing his
neck, Hillsman went nose to nose with Zangief. But neither man could
even touch the other. Gunloc grabbed Hillsman and got him to go back
to the dressing room first. Zangief paused for a moment, then made
his way back.
They hate
each other but can't touch each other. This could get interesting.
We took a commercial break and, on our return, Nick Jones was with Mike Haggar.
Jones: Mike, we are just minutes away from your World Title defence against Ron Grayson, a man who has recently beaten you by disqualification and has taken to calling himself the "Corporate Champion". He is also an old acquaintance of yours, a young admirer from Ithaca, New York who got to know you when you lived in that town. But, more importantly than that, though, he has been seen consorting with Simply the Best tonight. With all that in mind, what are your thoughts on tonight's match.
Haggar: Nick, I hate to quote Simply the Best but... "Ron who?"
And Mike Haggar went to the ring. At least he didn't ask Jones about his diet.
SMWA World
Heavyweight Title Match
Mike Haggar
(c)
Vs
"Daredevil"
Ron Grayson
******** cue ring announcer ********
RA: Ladies and Gentlemen, the following contest, scheduled for one fall, is for the Slam Masters Wrestling Association Heavyweight Championship of the World. It is scheduled for one fall with a one hour time limit.
******** cue the Sky Entertainment Ltd. theme ********
RA: Coming to the ring first, being led by his personal intern, Monica, is the challenger. From Ithaca, New York... Weighing in at two hundred and seven pounds... he is the Director of Personnel for Sky Entertainment Ltd.... "Daredevil" Ron Grayson!!!
Monica received quite a few cheers. She knew it. She played to the crowd, making sure they could all get a good idea of her "qualifications". Grayson didn't seem to mind. He thought the cheers were for him.
******** cue Mike Haggar's music ********
RA: His opponent... From New York City... weighing in at three hundred and ten pounds... he is the five time SMWA Heavyweight Champion of the World!!! MIKE HAGGAR!!!
Years ago, Grayson would have been in the throng cheering for Haggar. Now he's across the ring. Their story is a long one. The reader's digest version?
Ron Grayson helped motivate Mike Haggar to once again don the tights as a professional wrestler. That was years ago. Haggar had just finished up a disastrous stint as Mayor of New York City. Grayson was training to be a wrestler but was still the president of the Ithaca chapter of the SMWA fan club. But times have changed. Have they ever. Haggar is still the stand up guy he always was. Grayson has turned from starry eyed kid into a complete jerk.
Tonight, he would once again wrestle his idol.
Another point. Jessica Haggar was again nowhere to be seen.
Yet another footnote. Mike Haggar had hurt his shoulder pretty badly in a match versus Shadow Maxx on Saturday. The shoulder was dislocated temporarily before it popped back in to it's socket. The arm was still sore and Haggar may have trouble with it during the match. A point Grayson was sure to notice.
And was Simply the Best going to get involved tonight? A lot of questions and variables going in to what was once a very routine Title match.
Grayson came at Haggar fast and
early, peppering him with dropkicks and quick holds. But a flying
axhandle off of the top rope was ill timed and Haggar caught Grayson and
hit him with a belly-to-belly suplex. Haggar kept up the high impact
assault, flooring Grayson with a few lariats before planting him with a
Tombstone. Haggar stomped on Grayson a few times and then ran off
of the ropes to deliver an elbowdrop. Grayson rolled out of the way.
Haggar clutched his arm in pain
as he hit the match. He shoulder was bothering him again. Grayson
noticed immediately and started to kick the injured body part. Haggar
was in a lot of agony and Grayson wasn't going to be accommodating.
Grayson kept up his assault
on the arm, using several armlocks and even a Tiger suplex, a move that
doesn't focus on the arms but sure doesn't help them either. Grayson,
looking to end it, locked on a Cobra clutch sleeper, pulling on Haggar's
injured arm as he dozed off to dreamland.
Haggar struggled to get free,
but he was going out. But before his arm could even drop once, Haggar used
his free arm to punch Grayson several times in the stomach, releasing the
hold. Haggar positioned himself behind Grayson and hit a hard waistlock
suplex. The move had Haggar holding his arm, but he fought on.
He climbed up top and delivered a devastating clothesline that nearly knocked
Grayson out of his boots.
Unfortunately, even the greatest
wrestlers of all time will make stupid mistakes in the heat of battle.
The clothesline off of the top was the same move that injured Haggar on
Saturday Night, and it certainly didn't help him here. Haggar and
Grayson were both slow to get to their feet.
And the first thing Haggar saw
was Monica...well, selling herself seemed to be the best way to describe
it. Haggar stood up and gave her a quick glance, and then started
laughing. He turned around to deal with Grayson...
Who nailed Mike in the face
with a big superkick. Grayson then picked Haggar up and hit a back
suplex. That was the setup move and, climbing the top, Grayson attempted
his infamous Shooting Star Legdrop.
Haggar moved!!! Grayson
hit the mat hard and, for a few seconds, both men were down. Grayson
used the ring ropes to regain his support but then found himself falling
outside of the ring. Haggar and Grayson were brawling outside the
ring briefly. The encounter moved inside, where Haggar was taking
control. Grayson tried to kick Haggar in the stomach, but Haggar
caught his foot. Grayson quickly snapped Haggar in the back of the
neck with an enzuigiri. Haggar was out on the mat and Grayson climbed
up to the top rope and delivered a beautiful swan dive headbutt.
He went for the cover.

NO! Haggar got the shoulder up. Grayson again went up top,
this time hitting a flying sunset flip. The same result was achieved
- a two count. Grayson again went up top. This time, he flew
off the top and went for another flying axhandle.
Haggar got his boot up and floored
Grayson. Grayson was stunned by the kick and then was tossed all
over the ring. Haggar was getting his second wind.
Haggar pressed Grayson high
overhead and then dropped him face first to the mat, not being able to
hold him. Off of the ropes, Haggar hit a big leg drop for a close
two count. Haggar used his good arm to take Grayson down with a few
lariats and then signalled the end. Haggar spun around and went for
the spinning lariat.
Grayson ducked and the blow
hit the referee, knocking him out. Grayson tried to capitalize, but
Haggar simply power bombed him to the mat. But there was not referee
to count.
And to the ring came Simply
the Best.
Clark, Cody and Kent stormed
the ring and attacked Haggar. StB had planned an attack with Ron
Grayson, in spite of all of their denials. And, yes, we were catching
it on videotape.
Clark and Kent each took one
of Haggar's arms as Cody peppered him with body shots. Grayson, still
stunned, rolled outside the ring where he was "comforted" by Monica.
Haggar was taking a hell of
a beating in that ring. And nobody was coming to save him.
It looked even worse when Sky Entertainment Ltd. CEO Terry Sky ran to the
ring. He grabbed a chair and entered the ring. He told Cody
to step aside and Clark and Kent to hold Haggar up so he could get
a good shot it. Sky cranked back and took a big swing with the chair.
And he knocked out Cody Simmons!!!
Sky then took the chair and smashed Kent in the ribs before he turned the
weapon on Rick Clark! Simply the Best cleared out, Kent grabbing
a half conscious Cody.
The referee was starting to
come to and Sky left the ring. He was stopped by Grayson, who started
yelling at Sky! Sky yelled right back! These two were in an
argument outside the ring!
Monica kept pulling on Grayson's
arm like she was trying to tell him something. But Grayson didn't
notice her. At least, not until the bell rang.
Ron Grayson had been counted
out.
Mike Haggar defeated Ron Grayson
by countout in 0:20:19.
Rating: *** 3/4
(Mike Haggar retained the
SMWA World Heavyweight Title.)
Haggar was announced the winner
and Grayson was livid. Sky just shrugged his shoulders and went back
to the dressing room.
What exactly did Terry Sky do?
He helped Mike Haggar. Those two have no past with each other, though
it can be assumed they don't like each other very much. He attacked
Rick Clark and Simply the Best. Clark and Sky have a long history
together, stemming from their days as Highrise and their break-up, which
caused Clark to lose sight in one eye.
But most importantly, Terry
Sky didn't help his Sky Entertainment teammate. If anything, he hindered
his chances.
Why did Sky do what he did?
We'll have to find out later.
