Saturday Night Slam Masters
August 15, 1998

Extinct was not pleased with the result of this Monday's title match. His man Doomsday won by countout because of the distraction provided by Gunloc and Chad Hillsman, thus he did not win the World Title. Looking for revenge, Doomsday and Extinct started our program with a challenge to Gunloc. The All-Americans came out and accepted.

Gunloc and Doomsday have a history. It was Doomsday who put Gunloc on the shelf last may, injuring Gunloc's shoulder. In July, Gunloc came back to nearly destroy the left knee of Doomsday in a heroic effort...but he still could not pin Doomsday or make him submit.

Since Doomsday's return in December, he and Gunloc have not faced off. This is going to be a hell of a grudge match.

Jack Slade pinned Lantern with the Spiked DDT in 0:10:50.
(Jack Slade retained the SMWA Television Title)

Lantern did what he did best...flew around the ring. He hit Slade with as many high risk moves as he could to try and wear down the seemingly invincible TV Champ. However, a flying headbutt to the outside by Lantern was thwarted when Jack moved and Lantern went straight into a table. Slade was able to dominate for the next few minutes, but Lantern did manage a rally with a Frankensteiner and a moonsault. Several other lucha moves kept Slade down, but a missed Light Beam by Lantern put Slade back in the driver's seat. A Spiked DDT was a forgone conclusion.

However, after the match, Slade heard the sounds of a violin. He turned around and saw a VERY unimpressed Jessica Haggar being serenaded by a violinist, likely sent by old flame Cody Simmons. Slade left the ring and told the violinist to leave, but he refused. The violinist was expecting a tip of some sort. Well, Jack and Jess had no cash on them, and when the violinist would not go away, Slade grabbed the violin and smashed it on the ground. He handed it back to the violinist, and then he and Jessica left the ring.

Los Viajeros Dos Mil beat Quasar and Gestalt when BC-2000 pinned Quasar after a backslide in 0:12:18.

The experimental team of Quasar and Gestalt continues to have problems. Los Viajeros got a bit of momentum back tonight, dominated their fellow luchadors with trademark 2000 double teams. Quasar and Gestalt just are not impressive.

Nord Fullstrom pinned Kenji Hashimuto after the Nordic Hammer in 0:11:48.

The young Hashimuto confused big Nord early on with various martial arts and high-flying moves, but he made a big mistake when he tried to match the power ofthe Scandinavian. Hashimuto fought on and came close to hitting his moonsault, but Nord moved out of the way and struck with the Nordic Hammer for the win. Nord Fullstrom's slump appears to be ending.

We then saw a clip from Monday of the All-Americans burning the Russian flag in front of Zangief during the World Title bout with Doomsday. Then, we saw a shot of Zangief in the back, tearing apart the locker room. He issued a challenge to BOTH the All-Americans to face him and a partner on Monday. Who could this partner be? Biff Slamkovich is still injured, and as World Champ, you're not too quick to find allies. This should be interesting.

Clepto the Clown pinned Ice Dragon with the finisher of someone else in 0:15:00.

Clepto the Clown came up with another win tonight, but his main weakness may now be public knowledge. Clepto relies on big moves like Diamond Cutters and DDT's,and that's what he used to eventually used to fell Ice Dragon. But Clepto was lost when Dragon tried to WRESTLE him. His mat skill leave a bit to be desired, apparently. However, he still stole a finisher and won the match...in fact, the move in question was the DOOMSDAY TORNADO...Grater's finisher. What is the beef with Grater?.

Kodiak Marmoset defeated The Actor by countout in 0:01:43.
(Kodiak Marmoset retained the SMWA Cruiserweight Title)

Kodiak went home early tonight. The Actor came at him like a typical stuntman, but when Kodiak hit the finisher as Actor flew outside, he was out for the count.

Mauling Bear pinned Enrico Ferdinand after a splash in 0:18:20.

Enrico Ferdinand is good at fighting bulls...but his Bear fighting skills came up a bit short. Mauling Bear took all of the springboards and flying moves of Enrico and floored him with his HUGE power. A splash smashed the Spanish Flash.

Chad Hillsman defeated Peter McKee by countout in 0:02:04.

Chad Hillsman fought Irishman Peter McKee tonight...but it was another short one as Gunloc jumped McKee outside the ring, causing a count-out. Hillsman then got the mic and accepted Zangief's challenge for Monday...but wondered who "Red" could possibly fool into being his partner.

Andrew Marshall pinned Lantern with the De-Facer in 0:14:19.

A GOOD Luck of the Draw match. Tonight's TV Title contender Lantern faced the contender for the North American Title at Slam Masters: Code Red. Lantern still had gas in the tank and flew all over his foe early on. However, once Marshall caught Lantern, the tide turned. Marshall hit with spinning power bombs, Germansuplexes and a beatiful power bomb. However, on trying the move again, Lantern hit a rana and then hit a few springboard moves to knock Marshall off balance. However, a moonsault to the outside failed when Marshall CAUGHT the faux-Scott and POWERSLAMMED him on the floor. Marshall rolled Lantern in the ring and hit the De-Facer for a win.

Mike Haggar pinned The Great Oni after a bridging back suplex in 0:15:40.

An old Classic revisited, as Mike Haggar again faced the man who he beat for his third world title, The Great Oni. We knew what to expect from the match, but it was still good. Oni dazzled at the start with his martial arts, but a spinning wheel kick got reversed into a power bomb. Haggar kept pouring on the power but Oni tripped up a spinning lariat attempt and rebounded with a martial arts flurry. However, a flying sunset flip hit nothing but mat and a bridge suplex put an end to that match.

Main event.

Gunloc went right to Doomsday, but the monster would not be fazed. Doomsday gota hold of Gunloc outside the ring and poured on the power. Though he was not having a great deal of success, Gunloc kept on coming. But it wasn't enough. Doomsday tossed him once again outside.

It was at this point that Gunloc and Hillsman saw Zangief at the entrance way, holding a Russian and an American flag. As Hillsman and Gunloc approached the big Russian, another man appeared at his side....

MIKE HAGGAR!!!!.

Zangief handed Haggar the American flag, Zangief took the Russain flag, and the colours flew side by side. Gunloc and Hillsman charged...forgetting that the ref had just counted to ten.

Doomsday defeated Gunloc by countout in 0:10:06.

From behind Doomsday came Ghost, who jumped up on the apron and then left. What is going through his mind? And how can Haggar and Zangief co-exist, considering they will likely fight at Back Street Brawl in September? And what will this do to the main event at Slam Masters: Code Red? Tune in Monday.
