August 10, 1998
It must be slightly upsetting when you are no longer the top player in
your
federation. But with the heel turns of Rick Clark and Gunloc, and vile men
likeChad Hillsman and Saul Masters making headlines, that is EXACTLY where
Extinct
has found himself. Tonight, he tried to rectify that situation.
We started tonight's program with a video clip from backstage, filmed earlier
inthe day. Extinct was standing in front of Doomsday, with a message for the
reigning World Champion, Zangief.
"Zangief, couple of weeks ago, you cost Doomsday here the World
Title...tonight,that belt comes home to the Doomsday Hunters".
Tonight...ZANGIEF vs DOOMSDAY.
On to the matches before the big one...
Andrew Marshall pinned Texas Chainsaw Massochist with the De-Facer in
0:09:50.
Overcoming a rough start, when Tex and his tag team partner Nitro but him in
a
tough spot, Andrew Marshall rallied with a massive power assault to beat
the
Massochist in our opening bout. The BIG shock here was after the match.
Newly crowned North American Champ Titan Tim Redbury came down to ringside
and
stood right in front of Marshall on his way out. He then grabbed the
microphoneand started to speak.
"Bloody good match, Marshall. Bloody good. Now I have something to say.
Two
weeks ago on Slam Masters, my former boss cost you a chance to wrestle for
the
North American Title. Now, I'm not saying you would have beat me if Terry
had
not interfered, but you deserved a fairer match than that. So, I suppose
what
I'm asking is that if I offered you a shot at this Title, would you
accept?"
Marshall was stunned by this, but quickly regained his composure. "Do I
look
like an idiot, Timmy. I'll take the damn shot, no questions asked".
"Well, then you have it. I have an open contract at Code Red, so that shot
is
now yours. See you there".
Marshall had one more thing to ask. "Wait a sec, Tim...when the hell did you
getto be a nice guy?".
Titan turned and looked at Marshall. "Let me put it to you this way,
Marshall. For the past four years, I've been a part of gangs controlled by
men
who were
interested in their own personal gain, not mine. This belt means nothing to
me
if I don't defend it against those who deserve the shots. I'm done being a
big
puppet for little men. Now, you have your shot and you have your
explanation,
so don't ask why...just accept it".
Marshall was quick to respond. "Hey, see you at Code Red, then."
We are seeing a new Titan Tim...he seems to be becoming a friendly giant.
It
seems that when his alliance with Terry Sky ended, Titan gave himself a
good
look in the mirror and saw the stooge he had become. Nice to see him
controlling his own career.
Grant Redstone pinned Peter McKee with the Redstone suplex in 0:18:19.
It seems that a bit of the mystique surrounding Grant Redstone wore off when
he
was beaten by Skarzz a few weeks ago...but the won-loss record remains the
same.Peter McKee, the Luck of the Draw winner on Saturday, hit Grant with
everything
he could...a bottle, a microphone, various wrestling holds and the Irish
bomb.
Redstone just would not stay down! Big Grant had a tough match, but it
once
again ended in his favour with the Redstone suplex.
After the bout, Nick Jones climbed into the ring and asked Grant what he
thoughtabout the "restraining order" Saul Masters has put on him. "It just
shows what bloomin' coward that Masters is. But I don't have to beat the
damn
Sins to be
the topper in this fed. I can do that on my own. And, Masters, once Rasta
getsback, you bloody well better watch your ass".
Masters then showed his face on Slam Vision. "Big talk, Redstone. Too bad
you
can't do anything about it. What, you think Rasta's going to come back and
savethe day? I think not, because I have a little primate insurance policy
that's
going to keep him at bay. And don't you forget it, Redstone. And don't
forget
this either...you can't do a thing about it".
Masters laughed his way off screen, while Redstone made a promise. "I can
damn well try, Masters. I can damn well try!" But what CAN the Australian
do?
El Stingray defeated Lantern and Naga Yajito when Stingray defeated Lantern by disqualification in 0:21:12
Three top cruiserweights faced off for a shot at champ Kodiak Marmoset at
Slam
Masters: Code Red, and it was non-stop action. Fortunately for El Stingray,
he
was caught in the middle between the gang warfare between Los Viajeros Dos
Mil
and Highland Hell. It was a great match, but the two factions kept
sticking
their noses in the match. Stingray dominated as a result and, when all
three
men entered the ring, Stingray came out on top. However, neither side
wanted
to see Stingray beat up their men, so both Los Viajeros and the Highlanders
cameinto the ring and attacked Stingray, but then quickly turned on each
other. To
Stingray's aid came his friend Titan Tim, who cleared the ring of all the
other
attackers. Titan is really turning his image around.
Skarzz pinned Da Bounce with the Skarring in 0:08:33.
Da Bounce was bounced like a ball for about eight minutes...he was beaten
after the first, but Skarzz kept it coming before Masters told him to finish
it. New
Sin Shadow Maxx was then called on by Masters. He wanted to see how well
his"re-training" was going. Masters told Maxx to attack the downed Bounce.
Maxx
silently refused by standing in the ring, glaring at Masters. Saul signalled
to Blackhook, who held the cage containing Bobby the Monkey up in the sky."Maxx,
Bounce is a wrestler. A bad one, but I'm pretty sure he can take what
you'll
give him a lot easier than little Bobby will take what Blackhook can give.
SO
DO IT!!!" .
Maxx paused, then grabbed Da Bounce and excecuted the Dark Bomb. He got to
his face and then slapped Masters, who just smiled. "You're learning,
Maxx...I knewyou had a dark side in you somewhere. Let's go. We're done
here".
And with that, the Sins left the ring, Maxx grudgingly in tow.
Jack Slade defeated Ron Grayson by countout in 0:13:13.
(Jack Slade retained the SMWA Television Title)
Jack Slade is proving to be one of the stronger TV champs in recent
memory...in spite of the distractions constantly being imposed by Cody
Simmons. Ron Graysonand Slade put on a hell of a bout, with a little bit of
everything, but the
crowd was mostly focused on Cody trying to talk to Jessica outside the ring.
Jessica was paying little attention, but Cody persisted. Slade eventually
brokethe conversation...by throwing Ron Grayson into Cody. As the ref gave
Slade a
talking to, Cody gave the already groggy Grayson an uppercut which knocked
him
right out. This gave Jessica a chance to escape to the ring beside Jack.
Grayson was counted out, but as Jessica and Jack left the ring, Cody grabbed
themic and started telling Jessica to talk to him. Jack and Jess ignored him
as
well as they could.
The Philadelphia X-Treme Machine beat Los Dragones when Burnz pinned Fire
Dragon after the Philadelphia Back Breaker in 0:00:46.
Vintage PXM. 46 seconds answered the question of why Los Dragones have not
beenable to contend for the big belts. Speaking of which, once the slaughter
was
done, Extinct grabbed the mic and sent out a challenge to the tag champs
Grater
and Skarzz for Code Red: wrestle the PXM for the tag titles was the gist of
it.
Jerry Kent pinned The Great Oni with the Reb-driver in 0:14:03.
Jerry Kent was looking to avenge his loss to the Great Oni from two weeks
ago,
and he did just that. It was quite the bout between the classic brawler and
theseasoned martial artist. Kent went for his typical hardcore strategy
and,
on
a brawl on the outside, Kent smashed Oni with the ring bell before rolling
him
into the ring and nailing him with the Reb-Driver. However, this brought
out
Rick Clark, who again began to preach.
Of course, it was Clark re-writing history once again.
"What, Kent. You lost to Oni once, so you figure you have to CHEAT to beat
him? Is that it? You are such a disgrace, did you know that. You've gone
your
wholecareer cheating your ways to wins. Well, I'm about to show everybody
what a no
talent jobber you really are. Right here in my hand, I have a contract for
CodeRed. You and me, one on one...but I got three refs at ringside to make
sure youdon't try any funny stuff with frying pans, chairs or whatever else
you can get
your hands on. If you're half the wrestler you think you are, you'll sign
this
right now!".
Kent left the ring, glared at Clark, and asked for the contract. He put
his
name to paper, but just as he finished the "t", Clark jumped the legend. The
two fought into the back.
Main event time.
Zangief and Doomsday duked it out, but as strong as Zangief is, he could not
getpast the immeasureable strength of Doomsday. The big man dominated,
hitting hisArmageddon at the THREE MINUTE mark...BUT ZANGIEF KICKED OUT!!!
Zangief was on
his way to making a match out of it when the Russian national anthem began
to
play.
Standing at the top of the entrance ramp were Gunloc and Chad Hillsman with
a
Russian flag...and a lighter.
Zangief left the ring as the All-Americans SET THE FLAG ON FIRE!!!!! Zangief
ran towards the two, chasing them away from the ring. In the meantime, he
was
counted out, giving Doomsday the win.
Extinct grabbed the mic and started trash talking Zangief "That's right, run
FARaway, Zangief. I don't blame you, because you're not the first one to be
scaredby this man".
With that, Ghost came out of the crowd and entered the ring, tapping Extinct
on the shoulders...with a chair. Doomsday turned around, and Ghost whapped
him twotimes...no effect. But Ghost did not back down, SPITTING at Doomsday.
The
PXM charged down to ringside, but Ghost stood in the ring with that chair,
not
moving. The program ended with Ghost standing off against the Doomsday
Hunters.
Doomsday defeated Zangief by countout in 0:03:49.
(Zangief retained the SMWA World Heavyweight Title)
Zangief
suffered a back injury. He will be out for approximately 2 cards.
