Yeah...the SMWA...totally able to figure it out...huh?  Rick Clark is champ? WTF?

First off, tonight we had an interview with Rick Clark, the NEW SMWA World Champ.

"You know, a lot of people thought I didn't belong at Wild Card...that I wasn't World Title material...but all the Clark Marks knew and the other idiots can go to hell because I am the NEW SMWA World Heavyweight Champion. Haggar... Zangief... you want to know who the greatest in the World is?  You can fight it out for second place."
"But hey, Zangief.  I never  pinned you at Wild Card, and I don't want anybody saying "Oh, that Rick Clark, he's not a real champion...he never beat Zangief...duh".  Well, Zangy...right now I challenge YOU to a match...at Heatwave '98.  Get ready for an ass whooping."
"First off though, there is a wrestler out there who tried to destroy me.  A man who tried to put me on the shelf.  A man who was so dumb that he dropped ME because he thought I was the dead weight in Highrise.  Hey, Terry?  You listening?  Sky, take a look pal.  You thought that when you dumped me, THIS would be yours.  Well, Sky, I've been North American Champ and beat MIKE HAGGAR for the World Title...what have you done?  A crappy tag title reign or two, that's it.  So, Sky...I want a match with you tonight so I can rub your face in this belt after I show you why dumping me will always be the DUMBEST move you ever made."

WOW!!!  It was Terry Sky who pulverized Clark's right eye a few years back, forcing him to wear an eye patch...and Sky originally thought the attack would put him ahead.  Tonight, he could prove himself right...or an idiot.

Jack Slade made El Stingray submit to the Cruncher Crab in 0:10:15.
Rating : ****
(Jack Slade retained the SMWA Television Title)

WOW!!! Great TV Title match.  Slade and Stingray were having a great match, with lots of counterwrestling mixed in with Stingray's suicidal offense and Slade's new high-impact style.  Slade managed to avoid a lot of Stingray's high spots, but Stingray was too short for Slade to effectively perform many of his moves.  Slade eventually landed the Spiked DDT, but when he did, before he could even make a pin, somebody started to celebrate.
It was Charlie Angel, who stormed the ring and started celebrating Slade looked at Angel with bewilderment as the ref ushered him from the ring. Slade won shortly after with his devastating Cruncher Crab, and then had some words with Angel.

"Charlie, I'm going to be blunt.  You're REALLY starting to bug me. Stop interfering in my matches and leave me alone, alright?"

"I cannot do that, Chosen One.  I must protect the Prodigal Son from those who might harm him.  It is my duty"

Jessica chimed in "You need help, Charlie"

Well, Angel got big points for shouting back "SHUT UP, WOMAN!!!"

Slade and Jess left the ring without saying a thing after that, Charlie trying to apologize.

Grant Redstone and King Rasta beat Greed and Gluttony when Redstone defeated Blackhook by disqualification in 0:01:34.
Rating : *

Next match was more of a brawl, as King Rasta and Grant Redstone got a quick DQ win over Greed and Gluttony when Skarzz jumped in.  Coming to the aid of his new allies was Shadow Maxx, who helped Rasta and Redstone clear the ring.  Bobby the Monkey was nowhere to be seen that night.

Coming back from commercial The Great Oni came into the ring bearing a torch, calling out Teioh, Lord of Darkness.   Oni believes it has been Teioh, or as Oni refers to him, the false Kami (Japanese word for god), who has been casting the "darkness" which has cost him his matches.  Well, Oni said he would not get caught again.  He had a torch in the ring, lit it
and called Teioh out.
But then, the darkness entered the arena, no light could be seen and, when the lights came back on, Oni was down....and the torch was still burning.
Cool trick Teioh has there...wonder how he does it?

Johnny Proton made Teknos submit to a double chickenwing submission in 0:08:34.
Rating : ****1/4
(Johnny Proton retained the SMWA Cruiserweight Title)

Much better than the 1 minute debacle on Saturday.  Teknos came to fight but it became obvious that Teknos was wrestling desperately, trying to beat Proton in the same fashion Proton beat him.  But the overly risky style cost Teknos.  A Teknospinner was WAY off the mark, Proton got the double chickenwing locked again and that was it.

Next was a quick interview with Alexander "The Grater", Skarzz and Saul Masters before their shot at the Tag Belts they earned at Wild Card.
"I aint no Sin, I aint no tag wrestler and I aint friends with these two. But I aint so damn stupid that I'd pass up a shot at a title...but that's where it ends!!!".
Masters did not care, as long as a tag belt was in his stable by the evening's end.

Alexander "The Grater" and Skarzz beat The Super Powers when Grater pinned Biff with the Doomsday Tornado in 0:15:42.
Rating : **3/4
(Alexander "The Grater" and Skarzz won the SMWA World Tag Team Titles)

W--T---F!!!!  My god!!!  Grater and Skarzz not only won...they dominated.  Biff and Gunloc put up a decent fight, but they could not get past the awesome power of these two monsters who took them to the slaughterhouse.  The Powers had crisper double team moves, but when it came down to one-on-ones and quick tags, Grater and Skarzz were just deadly.  The Powers connected with double leg lariats and flying dropkicks, while Grater and Skarzz neutralized their speed with power bombs and choke holds.
But Grater eventually hit the Doomsday Tornado...and the unlikely duo were champs.

After the match,  out came  Chad Hillsman,  making  cracks about "another dumb Russian choking in the clutch" and calling Gunloc "a traitor to his nation".
Before Chad could go any further, he was jumped from behind by Zangief, and the two brawled through the arena once again. Gunloc was flustered, but still got Biff up and helped his fallen partner from the ring...to fight another day.

Another tag team match was the PXM vs F-X.  Before the match, Extinct berated the recently departed Doomsday Hunters West Bronco and Ron Grayson, calling them"weak of spirit", "too nice" and "not able to get the job done".  He also told them "Have a nice career, boys"

The Philadelphia X-Treme Machine beat F-X when Burnz defeated Actor by disqualification in 0:07:17.
Rating : *3/4

So, even though the PXM dominated, they couldn't get the pin...because Ron Grayson and West Bronco entered the ring with a couple of chairs and cleaned house.  So much for being too nice!

In the interview a lot of people have wanted to see since he got here, Jerry Kent called out fellow legend Mike Haggar.  After a brief discussion of what a disappointment Jack Slade must be (Kent saying this, not Haggar), Kent noted that he must have learned his behaviour from his teacher.  What followed was an interview akin to Ric Flair/Bret Hart, with Kent goading Haggar, challenging to prove who is the best.  Haggar wasn't backing down and, when Kent challenged himto a match at Heatwave, he accepted.
WOW!!!  This is the kind of match that can only be described as a clash of legends.
Haggar and Kent...9 World Titles between them.  The two greatest wrestler of their eras.  And it would finally happen.

Main Event Time!!!
World Title Match: "Tricky" Rick Clark (c) vs Terry Sky
When their team failed a few years ago, Terry Sky went out of his way toput Clark out of the sport.  Sky was touted as the talent of the team, the one with the personality, the look, the style.  Clark was always known as capable...well, I guess he is at that.
No feeling out process with these two...they know each other too well. It was fast paced and non-stop all the way through.  Sky hit the move of thematch with a flying elbowdrop from the second turnbuckle...out of the ring to the FLOOR!!!  There were multiple Frankensteiners, reversals and some great submission wrestling by Clark.  Sky managed to hit his Lights Out, but Clark amazingly kicked out.  It ended when Clark countered a spinning DDT and hooked Sky in a Sky-Driver (BTW, that is where the name came from) for the  pin.

Rick Clark pinned Terry Sky with the Sky-Driver in 0:19:51.
Rating : *****
(Rick Clark retained the SMWA World Heavyweight Title)

WHAT A BOUT!!!  This may have been the greatest World Title match ever on Massacre.  These two worked beautifully and never slowed the pace.

Clark grabbed the mic.  "Now that is what a REAL world title match is supposed to look like.  And NEXT WEEK...we're going to do it again.  I'll defend my World Title once more. Against who?  Well, you'll have to wait and see...but it will be a classic!"
