The Slam Masters Wrestling Association Presents...
T.G.I. Slam Masters
 June 19, 1998

One day before what may be the confusing night in SMWA history, the SMWA holds its first ever T.G.I.Slam Masters. Tonight, leading in to Wild Card, we have several HUGE matches.

But first, SMWA Commissioner Jack McCullough came out to make an announcement about tonight's North American Title Match.

"Zangief, you have been out of control these past few months. You keep showing up at ringside to do colour commentary unannounced. You try to threaten your opponents coming to and from the ring. You nearly ripped Chad Hillsman's leg off by throwing him through a car window. Now, I have no love for Chad or anything he stands for, but I will not have you carrying on like this. So, tonight, for your North American Title Match, I have assigned a special referee."

And with that, a familiar metal theme began to play and out of the back came MIKE HAGGAR....IN A REFEREE'S SHIRT!!! And almost right when Haggar hit the ring, Zangief was following him.

"Vat the hell iz dis? McCullough, I'm wrezling Haggar tomorrow in a Verld Title Match. And you zink he's going to be a fair, impirshal ref?"

Haggar sensed a verbal bashing coming on and grabbed the mic.

"Hold on a second, Zangief. Now, I didn't ask for this job. McCullough came up to me and asked me to be the referee. Frankly, I'd rather be at home right now, but what can I do. But don't you ever question my integrity. I don't like you, but I respect you enough to call your damn match down the middle. What, do you think I'm going to play favourites? Do you think I'd call the match in HILLSMAN'S favour. The guy is a jerk. But if he can beat you, then I'm counting your shoulders down. "

    "Iz zat a threat, Mike?"

"Hey, if you can pin him, I'll count him down too. So don't you worry yourself about it, Zangief...you'll get a fair match."

And with that, the two greatest wrestlers on the planet left the ring.

Haggar as special referee...really, what is Jack McCullough thinking?

    On to the matches...

Handicap-Match:
Highland Hell and Angus Wallace beat Los Viajeros Dos Mil when Hamish pinned BC-2000 after a jack-knife power bomb in 0:10:47.
Rating : ***1/4

Give Los Viajeros credit for trying...they were outweighed by over 500 lbs and outmaned by one, but they put up a fight as best they could. The only problem was, with one extra man outside interfering legally, Los Viajeros couldn't excecute most of their trademark double team moves. Any time one Viajero spilled outside, he was attacked by TWO men. The Highlanders were working a perfect bully strategy, and Los Viajeros couldn't overcome. In desperation, IS-2000 attempted an Asai moonsault onto a table...and missed. It was the first of four table spots Los Viajeros would miss. They tried, but a power bomb by Hamish ended the match.

If Los Viajeros are ever to beat Highland Hell, they need somebody to watch their backs in and out of the ring.

Jack Slade made Dark Angel submit to the Cruncher Crab in 0:04:01.
Rating : *1/4
(Jack Slade won the SMWA Television Title)

JACK SLADE WINS A TITLE!!! But this match started off a lot closer than anybody would expect.

Dark Angel jumped Slade, dumped him over the top rope and, in his first move of the evening, hit Slade with the Ride to Hell choke slam...THROUGH A TABLE!!! Angel then picked Slade up and went for another one...but Jack countered with a low blow and then hit the Spiked DDT on the concrete. Jack then picked up the 300 pound angel and, displaying his growing strength, powerbombed Angel through another table!!!

Slade then rolled the Dark One into the ring floored him with a Stunner. Then, Slade used a new move...the Cruncher Crab. Angel gave up in 3 seconds.

Speaking of angels, Charile Angel then ran into the ring, celebrating like Slade had just given birth and bowing furiously at Slade's feet. Slade tried to ignore Slayer, he grabbed Jessica, gave her a kiss, and brushed off crazy Charlie and left the ring. Charlie was too busy bowing to notice Slade had left.

The Super Powers beat The Dream Team when Biff pinned Emerson after a backslide in 0:23:59.
Rating : ****1/4
(The Super Powers retained the SMWA World Tag Team Titles)

When The PXM beat the Dream Team in a Top Contenders Match, it was thanks to a few underhanded tactics and the help of Extinct, The Super Powers decided to offer The Dream Team a shot...and it was scary. Good, but scary.

At the ten minute mark, McKee tried to his Irish Bomb on Biff, trying to drive him through a table, but as Irish Pete lifted Biff up, he slipped on something outside of the ring. As a result, the bomb was off by a bit and instead of driving Biff's back through the table, the back of Biff's head hit the edge of the table, opening a huge gash on the back of his head!!!

For the next five minutes, Biff was beaten badly and was bleeding profusely from the back of his head. The ref wanted to stop the match, but Biff would not let him. He fought on but wasn't doing much to fight back. A vicious waistlock suplex from Emerson nearly put him down for the count and the Dream Killer would have if Gunloc hadn't come in for the save. Finally, out of desperation, Biff countered a McKee gutwrench into a Tombstone and tagged out.

Gunloc was a house afire for the rest of the match, taking on both of the Dream Team. Finally, the two on one advantage began to take its toll...just as Biff re-entered the ring and helped Gunloc clear the ring. In the confusion and the concern for Biff, the ref lost track of who the legal man was.

McKee tried to nail Biff with a hiptoss, which Biff instinctively turned into a backslide. 1, 2, 3!

What a match. Biff recieved 23 stitches to the back of his head and neck. He'll be okay, though.

[Wild Card "Preview"]:
Ron Grayson and Doomsday beat Alexander "The Grater" and Andrew Marshall when Grayson defeated Grater by disqualification in 0:20:45.
Rating : ***

For the first time since Crash Carnival, Ron Grayson and Andrew Marshall were back in the ring against each other. Grater went in when tagged, but seemed pissed off that he had to be there in the first place. However, in spite of the lack of cohessiveness between Grater and Marshall, the match was very even. Marshall and Grayson wrestled, Grater and Doomsday tore into each other with their power, and Grater even hit his moonsault on Grayson after he missed a flying cross body. However, Grater got a bit TOO angry when the match became a four man brawl. Extinct tried to throw a pair of knucks to Grayson, but Alex intercepted. He KOed Daredevil and could have got the pin...but hit him again, then again, then again. The ref turned around and noticed Grater beating Grayson down with these knucks and called for the DQ.

Doomsday then got Grater off Grayson and pulled his DH mate back to the dressing room.

MAIN EVENT
North American Title Match
with Special Referee Mike Haggar
Zangief (C) vs Chad Hillsman

No love lost here, especially after the war Chad and Zangief waged at Crash Carnival. Typical fare from these two...high-impact power, Hillsman trying to mow Zangief down with clotheslines and shoulder tackles, while Zangief went for suplexes and Sambo throws. However, Zangief seemed distracted by Haggar. Zangief got Hillsman in a sleeper and started screaming at Haggar "ASK HIM!!!" Haggar was, but Zangief was not pleased anyway.

Whenever Hillsman made a cover, Zangief would look at Haggar like it was too fast. Whenever Zangief made a cover and Chad kicked out, Zangief would look at Haggar as if to say "speed it up!" With Zangief so distracted by the referee, Hillsman was able to take control with his power, nearly hitting the Stars & Bars...nearly. Zangief came back, whipping Hillsman from pillar to post. A Soviet suplex, a Tombstone and finally, the Siberian Bear Crusher. Zangief went for the pin.

(Zangief retained the SMWA North American Title)

And Zangief immediately got up and stared Haggar down. "You paused, Haggar. I had ze match von and you paused!!!"

"Zangief, you had him. I knew it, you knew it and you won. Don't get on me about that!"

    "Zo much for Mr. Honourable..."

    "Wait just one minute..."

Rick Clark then came to the ring and stepped in between the two.

"Look, guys. Look at yourselves. You, Zangief...you just wrestled. And you Mike...you just finished being a ref...you're not ready to wrestle. Let's all leave this for tomorrow, when we're one hundred percent? Alright?  Sheesh, it sucks being the voice of reason."

Zangief glowered at Clark, then left the ring. As he was going over the ropes, Clark hit Zangief with a superkick, sending him to the floor. Haggar then leveled Clark when he turned around with a Spinning Lariat.

At this point, Zangief climbed into the ring, saw Clark down and figured HAGGAR had hit both of them from behind. Zangief jumped on to Haggar and the two brawled in mid-ring as Clark rolled out to safety...laughing. Tomorrow night should be fun.
