Monday Night Massacre 05/25/98

A special 3 HOUR Massacre on Memorial Day opened with a big bang.  Jack Slade, smarting from being assaulted by Doomsday last week on Massacre, challenged the 400 lb mountain of muscle to a match later in the program.  A gigantic explosion was followed by the voice of Doomsday's manager, Extinct.  "You got it, punk!"

Doomsday vs Jack Slade...one week before the BIGGEST matches of their LIVES!!!

    Onto the first match

Ultimate Spider made Naga Yajito submit to the Spider's Web in 0:05:20.
(Ultimate Spider won the SMWA Cruiserweight Title)
Rating : ****1/4

WTF????  Spider has been losing since coming to the SMWA, but one great showing vs Johnny Proton this Saturday got him a shot at Naga's Cruiserweight title....and Spider DOMINATED!  Naga tried in vain to employ a ground attack, but found himself submitting to the Spider's Web.

This means Crash Carnival is now Ultimate Spider vs Johnny Proton.  Proton, with a win over Spider, already has a huge psychological advantage, but if Spider wrestles like he did tonight....good luck, Johnny!

Martial Arts Match:
The Great Oni made Rokuru submit to an armbar submission in 0:32:28.
Rating : ****1/4

Unable to convince promoters to an Octagon Match tonight, Oni took on Rokuru in a Martial Arts Match, where the win would only come after a KO or a submission.  If Oni thought he was going to blow through Rokuru, he was mistaken.  It turned out to be a GREAT match, with each man nearly getting the KO with their trademark finishers.  But Oni finally got the submission win with an armbar.  This Sunday, he's gotta face Akira!!!

Chad Hillsman made his way to the ring, limping a bit from being thrown through  a car window a few weeks ago by Zangief, but ready to go.  He challenged Mike Haggar to that World Title shot that he was supposed to get a few weeks back before the injury.  Haggar accepted, so later on tonight, we'll also see a World Title match....DAMN!!!

Jean DuPuis made West Bronco submit to the reverse figure-four in 0:25:25.
Rating : ****1/2

Well, nobody wanted their money back.  Bronco seemed to have DuPuis pinned after a Tombstone in this CLASSIC when rival Alexander "The Grater" came to ringside and pulled Bronco off of DuPuis, in the process removing West's boot. As Extinct complained to the referee, Grater smacked Bronco with the boot, allowing DuPuis to hook on the reverse figure-four and get the win.

Special Four Way Crash Playoff Match
The Super Powers vs Titan Tim Redbury & El Stingray

An injury to Terry Sky was the first problem Sarge X had...

The Super Powers will be the fourth team in the Four Way Crash...by default.

El Stingray and Titan  Tim, the scheduled opponents, were shown on Slam Vision, lying on the ground, Stingray holding his knee and Titan unconcious, Sarge X yelling obscenities at the top of his lungs.  Just as the ref announced that The Super Powers would  go to Crash Carnival, X came to the ring and accused Gunloc of attacking his men, claiming to have seen him.

Gunloc looked like he  had no idea what was going on, and Biff was looking at Gunloc with a look that screamed "You better not have".

An investigation would take too long, so for all intents and purposes, Biff and Gunloc are in at the Carnival...but how happy is Biff about that?

Jerry Kent defeated Peter McKee by disqualification in 0:13:14.
(Jerry Kent retained the SMWA Television Title)
Rating : **1/2

It was expected  for Los Viajeros and The PXM to interfere as 1/2 half of the Dream Team faced off against Jerry Kent...but why did Charles Slayer keep on attacking Kent through the match, which eventually led to the DQ. And why was he wearing all white, screaming that Kent was a "blasphemous defiler"? Poor Charlie has lost it!

Alexander "The Grater" pinned Nord Fullstrom with the Doomsday Tornado in 0:05:11.
Rating : *3/4

Grater again proved which of the two was the better Doomsday.  West Bronco tried to jump Grater after the match, attempting to hit him with his boot. However, this left his foot exposed.  Grater stomped it, then threw West from the ring.  These two will settle up at the Crash.

    Now, we get BIG!!!

Mike Haggar pinned Chad Hillsman with the Screwdriver in 0:12:26.
(Mike Haggar retained the SMWA World Heavyweight Title)
Rating : ****

What a World Title match.  First off, Zangief was at ringside for Haggar/Hillsman.  He seemed to be looking past Hillsman, whom he will face in a falls-count-anywhere match this Sunday, for the whole match and focusing more on Haggar, who he PINNED in a tag team match during the recent Tag Team World Cup.  He made sure everybody who was listening to the broadcast was reminded that the North American champ becomes the number one world title contender.

Haggar/Hillsman was a good match, with some great spots, such as when Hillsman backdroped Haggar into the ring steps and superplexed him, both moves aggravating Haggar's oft injured back.  But Mike pulled through, Screwdriving Hillsman for a very impressive win.

Then, almost immediately, an explosion was heard and Doomsday made his way to ringside.  Haggar took post at the aisle, while Zangief decided to help Hillsman out of the line of fire...by tackling him over the rail and brawling through the arena again.

Doomsday made his way towards Haggar before being tackled by Slade from behind. The ref ushered Haggar away from the ring, and Slade/Doomsday began.

Doomsday pinned Jack Slade with the Armageddon in 0:16:25.
Rating : ***1/2

Slade took it to Doomsday, but couldn't floor him, in spite of his best efforts.Slade took Doomsday to the corner with his infamous face smash corner counter,  and had Doomsday locked in a sleeper for 30 seconds, but couldn't floor him.  This changed  when Slade caught Doomsday with a chair out of the ref's POV, and managed to flip him into a pin...for a one count.

Doomsday got  up and  ran to the ropes, toppling the referee.  Extinct tried to get into  the ring right  away, but  he  was  floored by a boot to the head...by JESSICA HAGGAR!!!  Slade hit Doomsday with the Spiked DDT, but in spite of no ref, Doomsday kicked out pretty much at one.  Then, it got interesting.

Al Latimer started to get up, but was still groggy.  Slade went to the top rope for his flying cross body, but was hit from behind by Ron Grayson. Doomsday hit the Armageddon, and that was all...for the match.

This is when it got VERY ugly...and extremely scary

Slade was down and Jessica Haggar came to his aid. Extinct grabbed her by the wrist and threw her into the corner.  The PXM came to ringside and took post at the aisle.  Extinct then ordered Grayson and Bronco to hold Slade up and point him in the direction of Jessica.  Then, he ordered Doomsday to advance...towards Jessica.

Mike Haggar, Jessica's father ran out, but was  floored by the PXM. Slade, realizing what was about to happen, started thrashing madly to escape Grayson and Bronco's grip.

Then, something funny happened. Grayson, perhaps also realizing what Extinct was going to have Doomsday do, let go of Slade's right arm and shoved Bronco away. Slade got to Doomsday seconds before Doomsday got to Jessica.

Andrew Marshall came out to ringside and helped Slade clear the ring.

And in what may have been the moment of the night, Alexander "The Grater", Haggar's foe for life, pulled the PXM off of him and told Haggar to get the hell into the ring.

As the DH left the ring, Grater came after all of them with a chair. He was overwhelmed, so Haggar and his crew decided to help out. Grater cuffed Haggar with a chair and told the rest of them to back off as Extinct was taking the Hunters the hell away from the war zone.

What an ending before a PPV. We saw a woman almost get assaulted in front of her boyfriend and her father. We saw foes helping foes.  We saw it all.

What would we see on Sunday?
