Monday Night Massacre
Apr 6, 1998

Here is the first ever TV card that has been posted from the Slam Masters Wrestling Association. There were some doozies and a few flops, but a decent Monday Night overall.

You are reading about a circuit which has been going for a few years now, so I'll try to explain things as best I can. However, in English, I've learned that starting a story right in the middle of the action is known as an "Epic Convention", and it is very effective. Let's hope so here.

Massacre started off with a bang...literally, as Extinct came down to the ring on behalf of his Doomsday Hunters and used their same pyrotechnics and music. The message Extinct had was this:

"I started the Doomsday Hunters for one reason...power. Power over the SMWA, power over its wrestlers, and power over what you lecherous fans watch every week. We're six weeks away from Crash Carnival, and make no mistake...that is where my power will finally be consolidated. But somebody keeps getting in the way."

"Saul Masters, you've started your little gang up. A bunch of mediocre talents, a pale immitation of the Doomsday Hunters. And you've gotten in
my way ever since. Make no mistake, Masters. I'm in charge here. But you want to keep on this little power play. Fine...I'll give you the shot."

"About three weeks from now, Slam Masters is coming up. I'm making a challenge on behalf of the Doomsday Hunters, on behalf of the SMWA and on belhalf of myself...your Seven Deadly Sins vs The World. We win, you get lost. You win...not a chance. And Masters...whoever your men take on, I want one thing...you! See you in hell."

And with that, the stage has been set for some pretty interesting alliances.

On to the matches...

Crusierweight Title Match
Naga Yajito and Akira Wan-Pai fought to a double count-out at 13:14
****1/4

An excellent Japanese style bout by these two long time rivals. Yajito, the two time former crusierweight champ, fought off the martial arts advances of Akira with some great mat wrestling, but when the two were vertical, Naga stood little chance. The two were going at it tooth and nail when everybody's rival, Chad Hillsman, came to ringside. Hillsman was upset that two foreigners were fighting for a belt and wanted to do something about it. But, before he could get involved, The Great Oni came to ringside. Hillsman and Oni saw each other, exchanged glances, but were civil for a few moments--Oni was out to get his rival Akira Wan- Pai, while Hillsman wanted anything foreign.

The match ended when both Naga and Akira fell out of the ring. Oni jumped Akira, and Hillsman took down Naga. The four brawled away from the ring as the ref counted 10. The interesting part came when Hillsman, who shifted his focus from Naga, jumped Oni from behind. Naga and Akira just stood and watched as those two fought their way back to the dressing room. A fight which would continue later in the night in a Chad vs Oni North American Title match.

"Jackhammer" Andrew Marshall pinned The Texas Chainsaw Massochist (w/Nitro) with the De-Facer at 11:16
***

Last week, when Marshall and his arch-nemesis Ron Grayson got Tex and Nitro DQed against "The Battling Buddies" (Ron S. Rayson and Clone Marshall), who have been mocking Jackhammer and Daredevil's rivalry at every turn, Nitro and Tex were none too pleased. Marshall faced one half of Pain & Agony in a vicious battle of power vs power, technique vs brawling. Tex put up a great show, but Marshall had too much, eventually finishing him with the De-Facer, a reverse Razor's Edge faceplant. Nitro then stormed the ring, and the two did a number on Marshall, leaving him laying.

SMWA TV Title:
Skarzz (w/Saul Masters) pinned Angus Wallace with the Skarring in 16:06.
*1/2

Wallace has alway been a tough man, but he was destroyed by Skarzz. After the bout, Zangief came to ringside, being the first SMWA wrestler to take up the challenge made by Extinct...he wanted Skarzz at Slam Masters. However, Skarzz' rival, King Rasta, who also never liked Zangief, had the same idea, coming on SlamVision seconds later. Saul Masters decided to make both men happy...it would be a handicap match, with Zangief & Rasta vs Skarzz. But neither Zangief nor Rasta were too happy with this idea, but they'd go along with it.

"Daredevil" Ron Grayson (w/ Extinct) pinned Nitro (w/ The Texas Chainsaw Massochist) with the Shooting Star Legdrop at 10:00
***1/2

Much the same as the previous Marshall/Tex match, Grayson proved too much for Nitro to handle, though the brawler did get a few good bat shots in on Grayson. Daredevil used his arial mastery to win the bout...and then got pounded by Pain & Agony.

#1 Contenders Match
The Philadelphia X-Treme Machine (w/ Extinct) beat SuperStars Inc. (w/ Sarge X) by DQ at 8:54
**1/4

The match between these old rivals was ruined by the interference of Los Viajeros Dos Mil, who kept getting involved until the ref chased them away. The PXM won when Sarge X tossed Burnz from the top rope onto the floor. So, next week, the X-Treme's will face the Dream Team for the World Title. But expect the four way tag title feud to continue.

Jack Slade pinned Jean DuPuis with the Spiked DDT at 20:44
***3/4

A very good bout, with plenty of turns. At the 15 minute mark, DuPuis had Slade locked in the reverse figure 4 for 45 seconds before Slade reached the ropes. Slade is possibly the best counterwrestler in the world, thanks to his photographic memory, and showed it here. About 7 two counts in the last 90 seconds ended with a Spiked DDT and a win for Jack.

SMWA North American Title Match:
Chad Hillsman and The Great Oni fought to a no-contest at 8:46
****1/4

They had destroyed a great match earlier in the card, so turnabout was fairplay when Akira and Naga jumped Hillsman and Oni. Another brawl.

Doomsday (w/Extinct) pinned Titan Tim Redbury (w/ Sarge X) after hitting him with a foreign object at 20:27.
*

Not a great match, but when one guy is 7'7" and the other is a rock solid 390 lbs of muscle, what can you do. Titan wanted revenge for the uncalled for beating Doomsday laid on him after his title bout with Mike Haggar last week. It was power vs power and the building shook, but Doomsday took it...and wouldn't stop beating on Titan. Extinct grabbed the mic.

"Haggar, a couple of weeks ago, the commish put a ban on this man touching you until Crash Carnvial. Look what that has done to him. He needs new people to beat up on. So, Mike, heres what's going to happen. You wrestle anybody from now until Crash Carnival, you can be damn sure Doomsday will be their next opponent. And while you may have mercy on these poor schleps, I can tell you that he will have none. Anybody you touch goes down, Haggar. Deal with it."

And with that chilling message, Extinct took Doomsday from the ring.

What can Mike Haggar do. He doesn't want to see anybody get hurt because of him, but he can't afford to spend six weeks on the sidelines before the biggest match of his life. What happens next is anybody's guess.

And, as a result of the actions of Pain & Agony tonight, Andrew Marshall and Ron Grayson, who are a part of the biggest feud in the SMWA, will be forced to TEAM UP next week against Nitro and Tex. Neither Grayson and Marshall seemed too happy about it, but they have promised that, as soon as Pain & Agony are dealt with, they will settle their differences...immediatley.

See you this Saturday Night on Saturday Night Slam Masters, where crusierweight champ Naga Yajito will face off against North American Champ Chad Hillsman.
