Their partners have joined forces, and they don't like it. In fact, they blame each other for not keeping their "mentors" in line. Scorpion and Mike Haggar maybe teaming tonight, but Oni and Jack Slade are going to war.

Tonight, we'll see Oni versus Jack Slade

It's well known that West Bronco has a temper, but "Jumbo" Jack Flap has always been able to keep that temper in check. Well "Jumbo" is gone now, and it's all thanks to the flaming attacks by Nitro. Tonight, nothing's gonna hold Bronco back.

Tonight we'll see West Bronco versus Nitro

Rick Clark has been on a one man mission to destroy the Doomsday Hunters.  Tonight, that mission continues as he defends his North American Title against Television Champion Norful, who's title is not on the line.

Tonight we'll see Rick Clark versus Norful

Doomsday put Gunloc on the shelf for a while in May, The Philadelphia X-Treme Machine and the team of Rasta and Biff Slamkovich have been fighting tooth and nails for weeks over which team is number one contenders for the tag team belts held by SuperStars Inc.

Tonight we'll see Doomsday and the Philadelphia X-Treme Machine versus The Super Powers and King Rasta

It's a well known fact that the Scorpion and Mike Haggar don't like each other. But if they have one thing in common, it's that they hate the Doomsday Hunters. Scorpion and Haggar have teamed only once before, to beat then tag team champs PXM in a non-title match, but can this uneasy alliance withstand the pressure of the main event against World Champ Alexander "The Grater" and Extinct? If Haggar and Scorpion win, Haggar gets a re-match against Grater at Back Street Brawl.  Scorpion has his reasons to win too, as he gets to fight Haggar should Mike win the world title.
This is going to be interesting.

Tonight, in our main event, we'll see Mike Haggar and The Scorpion versus Alexander "The Grater" and Extinct

The Slam Masters Wrestling Association Presents
Slam Masters:
The Dark Side

LIVE!!!
From The Palace of Auburn Hills Michigan
Saturday August 28th, 1997

After our usual introductions from our announce team, we went backstage to Jack Slade limbering up for his match, Jessica Haggar was egging him on.

Slade: Oni, Oni, Oni, just because Mike and the Scorpion are teaming tonight, doesn't mean I have to be friends with you. You know something pal, I hate you and your master, something about the two of you leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But if Mike want's the Scorpions help, the that's fine by me, but as for you, tonight I'm gonna kick your scrawny little butt all over the ring.

Jack Slade
W/ Jessica Haggar
vs
The Great Oni

This match was a battle of two styles, the ground attack of Jack Slade against the martial arts of Oni. Boy what a match we had. One highlight was when Oni went for the Neck Wrecker, Slade shoved Oni away and went for a spiked DDT, which Oni barely managed to counter with an armbar.
The match got to the 29 minute mark. The match had a 30 minute time limit. You could tell the two combatants had some idea what the time was. The first cover came from Slade after an attempted Neck Wrecker from Oni, Slade turned Oni around and put him in a small package...

            Thre...... No, Oni kicked out
29:12 and both combatants were exhausted. As Slade attempted to get up, Oni was on his knees, Oni jumped up to his feet and hit Slade with a jumping side kick, surely this was it

The bell rings... Slade's won!!!  He has his arms in the air, but wait, the referee is telling him something, Slade looks annoyed, we get the announcement...

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this match has gone to the 30 minute time limit. It is declared a DRAW!!!!"

The Great Oni and Jack Slade battled to a draw in 0:30:00.
Rating: **** 1/4

Oni stood up and went over to Slade, the two engaged in an eerie staredown for a half a minute or so then left the ring, there seemed to be some respect between the two.

Wow, what a fantastic first match. Now it's time for Nitro versus West Bronco, but first, the two combatants have some pre-recorded comments.

Nitro: Hey, cowboy, I burnt your fat little friend out of this business, now you want some of me? Ain't you learnt your lesson? Don't you know not to play with fire for you may get burnt? You mess with me little man and you may just get turned into a little cowgirl.  Then, you can join Jumbo in the burns unit.

West Bronco: Nitro, what you did to Jack is inexcusable. Now you got me mad. I don't often get mad, but you got me real mad. I've ridden some of the toughest bulls there are, now it's time I lassoo you up and kick your ass all the way back to the fires of hell where you belong. You can bring your fire, you can bring your friend, but I got my plan, so see you in the ring.

Nitro
w/ Saul Masters
vs
West Bronco

Nitro didn't take long to let loose his game plan: The Texas Chainsaw Massochist. It was only a couple of minutes into the match when TCM came down to the ring, but at the time Bronco had the upper hand, but that soon changed.
Bronco flung himself into the ropes to go for a running lariat, but as he got to the ropes he was hit from behind with a chainsaw (thankfully, the handle and not the blade) while Nitro managed to distract the referee.
From that point on, it was all Nitro as Bronco was favouring his back. TCM took this time to taunt the fans, parading around ringside with a huge smile on his face and his back turned to the ring, but this was a huge mistake. Nitro went for a piledriver, but West Bronco reversed it into his patented Tombstone Piledriver and that's all she wrote.

West Bronco pinned Nitro with the Tombstone in 0:07:02.
Rating: 1/4*

TCM turned around when he heard the bell, expecting to see Nitro celebrating, but instead saw Bronco getting his arm raised, TCM went wild and charged the ring, but Bronco managed to escape, surviving to fight another day.

Rick Clark versus Norful was our next feature, but first some pre-recorded words with Rick Clark.

Rick Clark: My only goal for the last few weeks here in the SMWA has been to destroy the Doomsday Hunters, to turn the Hunters into the Hunted so to speak. Well, with this North American belt, it changes things a little.  It means there are more people after me.  But, Norful, that doesn't mean I'm not still out to destroy you and your cronies. You wanna bring them out here so I can destroy you all at once, fine by me, bring them on.  You wanna be smart and do this one on one, fine by me too. Don't think you're getting a victory over me.

NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH
Rick Clark (C)
vs
Norful
w/ Zangief

Extinct was busy preparing for the main event, so he sent out his hired gun, Zangief to accompany Norful instead.
All was going well in this fascinating match, until Zangief got bored, or something, and decided to get himself involved in the match. Extinct briefly came down to ringside. perhaps hoping to co-ordinate the attack.  He distracted the referee.  Zangief quickly got the timekeepers bell and jumped up on the apron. Norful, who by this time had gotten the upper hand, help up Clark for Zangiefs shot. Clark ducked and Norful got the bell flush in his face and fell to the mat. Zangief jumped down, hoping not to get caught, and Clark applied his STF. The ref turned around to see Norful unconscious and rang the bell.

Rick Clark made Norful submit to the STF in 0:21:04.
Rating: ***
(Rick Clark retained the SMWA North American Title.)

Zangief and Extinct quickly jumped into the ring and Clark jumped out, heading back to the lockeroom, celebrating.
Meanwhile, Norful was coming too.  He woke up, saw the bell lying next to him and got up.  He turned his back to Zangief and Extinct and just stared at the bell he was holding in his hand.
All of a sudden, he dropped the bell, turned around and took a swing straight at Zangiefs head.  However, an alert Zangief ducked and shoved Norful in the chest. But before any serious fighting could go on, Extinct separated the two and the three of them walked to the back.
Looks like these two big men are having troubles.

The Super Powers
& King Rasta
vs
Doomsday &
The Philadelphia X-Treme Machine

This was a pure brawl, plain and simple. These two teams just plain hated one another. Many times during this match the rules were thrown out the window, but the referee didn't seem to care.  In fact he seemed to be enjoying this as much as anyone else.
We saw some great teamwork by the Philadelphia X-Treme Machine and also by all three members of the opposing team, whereas Doomsday was just looking to kick some good-guy butt.
The battlelines were clearly drawn by the 17 minute mark as the PXM seemed to spend most of their ring time in there with Rasta and Biff, and Gunloc seemed intent on getting revenge on Doomsday.
In the end, all six men lost control and battled on the outside, however Gunloc, a legal man, regained his senses and rolled back into the ring at the count of 9, giving his team the victory.

The Super Powers and King Rasta defeated The Doomsday Hunters (Crash Burnz, Doomsday and Slash Battle) when Gunloc defeated Doomsday by countout in 0:18:19.
Rating: ** 1/2

It's MAIN EVENT time, but first, we've got some more of those wonderful pre-recorded comments for you.

First, to the dressing room of Alexander "The Grater" and Extinct

Extinct: Well, isn't this a laugh. Mike Haggar and The Scorpion on the same team. Oh, they both wanna destroy my Doomsday Hunters. Oh, they both managed to team for a victory against my PXM.  Big Deal!!! This is the big show, boys.  This is for all the marbles.  Can you two work together? Somehow I don't see that happening.

Alexander "The Grater": Hey Mike, Scorp, see this damn belt? It says World Heavyweight Champion on it. It means your the best. And guess who has the belt? ME! Alexander "The Grater"! That makes me the greatest damn wrestler in the world. Yeah, Mike, I know you want me.  I know you want this belt again Mike, but do ya think you can trust your damn partner?  Only damn reason he's stuck in this is so he can have a shot at you.  That's if you win.  Big damn if, Mike.  Scorp, this is some kind of damn revenge for ya, is it?  Well, drop the damn grudge, cause you'll end up hurt, and that's a damn promise.  Time for the Doomsday Hunters to grind you two up!!!

Next, we go into Mike Haggars dressing room.  Haggar and Scorpion are in there TOGETHER. Could they really be united? But one interesting point; they were in there alone. NO Jessica Haggar or Jack Slade, NO Great Oni. NO Superpowers and Rasta, who had been helping Haggar try and defeat the Doomsday Hunters.

Scorpion: Well, Extinct, Alexander "The Grater", you two obviously have no idea how to approach this match. You two keep waiting for Mike and myself to turn on each other. Well, it's not going to happen. This may be a one time only alliance, but it is an ALLIANCE. As much as I hate this, we're together, we'll fight together like family. I've given Mike my word, and ask anybody, when I give my word, you can count on it. I hate you Extinct.  You think you're some sort of mastermind, but you have no idea who you're dealing with.  And you Alex.  A thorn in my side.  When you sent the Doomsday Hunters after me, you signed your own death warrant.  And Mike...  You know I don't like you, and maybe you'll never know why, but the important thing is this.  We win tonight.  Then you beat Grater.  The Doomsday Hunters fall and all that's left is you and me.

Mike Haggar:  You got that right, Scorp.  You know, all my friends are asking me why.  My own daughter is asking me why.  None of them even want to stand beside me anymore.  Nobody understands.  You want to know why?  The Doomsday Hunters are the kind of cancer I've fought all my life.  A gang.  A group of morons who think that they can dominate.  I'm the gang killer, boys.  This man right here...  There's no love lost.  As a matter of fact, we just plain hate each other.  But you've messed with him just as much as you've messed with me.  If there's one thing I've learned, it's that a gang can't be broken by just one man.  This man is the difference maker.  And if it comes down to me and him taking you out, then so be it.  It's gonna happen.  We've got more then you boys will ever have.  Except for one thing.  I don't have the World Title.  That's going to change real soon, Grater.  Tonight, two enemies hook up to take down a major threat, a force that could run this place under.  Damn if we're going to fail.  The Doomsday Hunters are going for the ride of their lives tonight!!!

Could Haggar and Scorpion actually work as a team? We were about to find out...

MAIN EVENT
Extinct and Alexander "The Grater"
vs
Mike Haggar and The Scorpion

If the Haggar/Scorpion team wins, Mike Haggar gets a World Title Shot at Back Street Brawl in September, and should Haggar win that match, Scorpion becomes number 1 contender.  Scorp wants Haggar, and he wants that title.  Who knows why.
As expected, Haggar and Scorpion's former allies did not show up at ringside.  The unexpected?
A few fans were booing Mike Haggar.

The match started off almost as a handicap match, with Alexander taking most of the workload for his team, as the older Extinct realized that he needed to avoid too much punishment from Haggar and Scorpion. Extinct still managed to pick his shots, though, coming in when his legal opponent was down.
Anybody looking for a technically efficient match would have been disappointed as this was a pure brawl. Most of the match consisted of Alexander fending off some sloppy attempts at double team wrestling by Haggar and Scorpion.
Towards the end of the match, Grater set Haggar up for the Doomsday Tornado, but Haggar flipped out of it and made the hot tag to Scorpion. These two may not have been friends, but they were sure trying their darndest to fight as a team.
This tag set up a hot four way brawl, and another hot tag for Haggar/Scorpion. This allowed the two of them to do some impressive tag work, while Scorpion held off the Hunters, who were now ringside, outside the ring, Haggar was belting the living daylights out of Extinct in the ring.
Both men lost sight of Grater, though and he attacked Haggar from behind and set him up fr a Tenderizer.  However Scorpion saw this and hit him with a savate kick, Haggar rolled up for a small package...
    1......
you can hear a pin drop....
        2.......
Here comes Extinct, Scorpion stops him....
    slow count.....
            3!!!!

Mike Haggar and The Scorpion defeated Alexander "The Grater" and Extinct when Haggar pinned Grater after a small package in 0:25:15.
Rating: ****

They did it!!! They worked as a team and won the match. The crowd was going wild... wait, here come the Hunters!  They destroyed Haggar and Scorpion, plus Grater gave them each a Doomsday Tornado for their troubles.  They left Scorp and Haggar laying, and the only people who came to help were the medics.  Haggar and Scorpion walked out on their own accord, though. Both lived to fight another day, and Haggar has his shot at September at Back Street Brawl.
Scorpion, for one will be watching very closely.
